Star Gazing Chap.11

Soon after arriving you got settled in to your old house within the village, but you found your Mother had gone to Sumeru City which saddened you as you missed her, but Candace assured you'd get to see her one of these days. You took Wanderer with you as you went to visit Uncle Anpu the Village Chief and he asked you many things about how it was in Sumeru city, especially pertaining to your new job as a Forest Ranger Trainee In which you answered them all, but as the day started coming to an end you could feel your tiredness after the journey there 

but even so you kept yourself awake as you catched up with some old faces In the village, but Wanderer preferred to stay at the house as he wasn't sociable like you were, but he also didn't know anyone around there so he had all the more reason to not talk to anyone

Wanderer looked to the ceiling as he wondered *This place is almost remote...but It's peaceful here, not to mention everyone seems happy...*

he crossed his legs over as he then closed his Indigo eyes as he wanted to rest, but then ten minutes later you arrived to find him sleeping in the guest room

you went to wake him up, standing on the side of the bed as you reached to shake him awake 

"Hey...you should wake up now...h-"

upon touching him he woke up and gripped onto your wrist tightly as he looked disturbed

you silently gasped, "you...what happened...you're hurting me"

he then snapped out of it as he let you go, "......"

"Did you have a bad dream?" you asked

Wanderer then calmed, "you could say that..."

he then got up off the bed, "did you want something?"

you started, "Candace invited us to have dinner with her"

"Okay,"

he started out of the room but then stopped, "Sorry...for hurting you"

you stood for the moment but followed behind him out the guest room, leading the way as you took him to Candace's home within the village. Once there she presented a little spread She'd made Aaru mixed rice along with some meat on sticks, you'd missed her cooking 

Candace smiled, "please enjoy, and Wanderer help yourself too"

he gave a nod in response as he started to eat the Aaru mixed rice *Delicious....*

"So, Where do you come from?" she asked

Wanderer started, "Inazuma"

Candace nodded, "I see...I've heard that Inazuma is a tranquil place"

"for the most part, I guess It is" he said

you started, "he also tells me the Sakura trees are beautiful in full bloom...I'd really love to see that"

Wanderer looked to you after hearing that, but the idea of going back to Inazuma made him feel a sense of being Uncomfortable, and for the rest of the meal he remained quiet but you did let Candace know that he didn't much like talking to people especially ones he didn't know. 

After Dinner you went for a walk through the village as the sun had now gone down, and without anything to do Wanderer tagged along with you 

"So, What do you think of the village?" you asked

he crossed his arms, "It's okay...it's quiet for the most part at least"

you started, "Yeah...but there are festive nights here sometimes, especially for the Chief or Candace's birthday"

Wanderer looked to the sky, "That Guardian woman, she's very strong"

you continued walking but then got an Idea, you grabbed Wanderer's hand as you started running and he made protests at your actions until you reached the destination

you were a little way's out from the village, just then Wanderer yanked his hand back

"What're you-"

you pointed up to the sky and when Wanderer looked to where you were pointing made his Indigo eyes widened, looking at the sight above as the stars glittered like millions of jewels 

a smile came to your face as you looked on in wonder but then you sat down, hugging your legs as you watched the sight but then Wanderer sat down as well as he took off his hat

"It's beautiful"

Wanderer let out a sigh as he remembered before when he said the sky is a lie, he wanted to tell you that but right now for some reason he kept It to himself as he saw the look on your face

you then laid back onto the now cool sand, putting your hands atop your stomach and Wanderer knew you were doing what they called Star gazing but he'd never cared for it

Wanderer let something escape his mouth, "Do you...know any Constellations"

you looked to him, "Not really"

"Neither do I...I've never cared to look at the night sky in my life"

you turned to face him a little more, "What's your life been like?"

Wanderer closed his eyes, "It's none of your business you know...and in fact what I've told you about Inazuma...I didn't want to tell you, you've helped me a lot yeah but with your constant company it's become a Nuisance"

you felt hurt by his words, "Oh...."

"But...despite being a Nuisance, your company has become welcome to me and...I like hearing you talk"

you looked to him in surprise, "then...could we be friends?"

his cheeks dusted with pink, and he furrowed his brows "......"

you sat up, "I...don't mind what I said, I just thought....I didn't want to assume"

Wanderer stood up and looked up at the stars *This isn't...this warmth I feel Is It because of her...It's been decades since anyone's treated me like I'm...human*

he brought a hand over his face listening as you apologized to him again, but then his lips curved as he then chuckled "I'll be damned...but I'm damned already so maybe this won't be so bad"

"huh?"

Wanderer put his hat back on and he turned to you as he held out his hand, you felt some warmth come to your cheeks but then you smiled as you placed your hand In his.
