five days until.

today is calm and slow. i work with conan. i have register and he has restocking duty, which he finished at eleven thirty this morning and no customers have come in at all today. so we're just casually standing over by the register and talking.

"i keep hearing you're engaged to josh?"

"yeah."

"oh wait so that's actually true?"

"yep."

"good, cause like the four times i've seen you two together... i've shipped it."

"oh my god. i'm telling joshua you said that."

"go ahead."

"i will."

"when are you two gonna get married?"

"summer of next year is the plan."

"you have enough money?"

"not yet. but we will."

"oh, saving up are we?"

"yeah, you could say that. we've been trying to hard to get married, conan. you have no idea."

"so who will be walking down the aisle. if anyone?"

"i will. the plan is for me to have a white tux.. like how brides have white wedding dresses, you know?"

"that's so cute."

"yeah, and you're invited too. to the wedding just so you know. and so will matty, ashley, melanie."

"saying that aloud makes me realize how little the amount of people that work here is."

"yeah.. agreed. i love working in a small business."

"me too."

-

"okay conan, i'm off."

"wait isn't this our last day before matty goes off on his work trip and is closing for a month?"

"yeah."

"do you still get paid?"

"yep."

"oh great."

"you're locking up then, buddy."

he smiles, "see you soon. and hey, when you and joshua decide the wedding date. if you don't give me a call and seriously invite me. i'm coming to kill you."

"hahah, you can hold me to that."

-

i open the door to my apartment. it smells like lavender. the dining room light is on, but the rest of the house is dark.

joshua's standing from the dining table. candles lighting up the whole room. a smile across my face. his eyes sparkle in the minimum light.

"stop doing this," i smile and wrap my arms around him.

"why not?"

"because you're so good to me. you can make the most delicious food and i am awful in the kitchen."

he separates us, taking his hand and lifting my face so that our eyes meet.

"do you want to know something, tyler dun?"

"hm?"

"you know i hate math."

"yeah?"

"and so everyday since we've been together you've helped me with every math question and assignment i've ever had. you've paid all our bills and calculated the math yourself and told me not to worry about it. you know i love cooking, so you've always let me cook the meals. and i don't know what's up with you right now and feeling guilty about it. i love cooking. and i love you, and if a meal makes you happy because i'm the best cooker in the world, then i will make you happy. you're just as important to me as i to you."

i smile at his beautiful eyes.

"now there's that smile i love to see."

he lets go of my face and walks over through the darkness to my chair, "now sit my love, i have a perfect five course meal for us."
