four days until.

"what would you like to do today, j?"

"whatever you wanna do, babe."

"well we've planned everything for tuesday. we can't hangout with ashley because they told me they're having a family day.."

"we could just stay home together."

"we're always home."

"i know, i'm sorry."

"don't be, honey. i love staying home with you, but i have an idea."

"what is it?"

-

the sun shines over the park. my fingers wrapped tightly around the woven basket, the blanket snuggled in the crook of my arm. the grass is beautifully green. i look to my right. but he is more beautiful than the grass could ever achieve. his skin seems to thrive in the sun, and i wonder why we don't take picnic trips more often.

i spread the blanket out halfway under a tree and halfway out into the sun. joshua sits in the sun and i sit right next to him, but in the shade. he pulls out our food and drinks and smiles at me.

"we should do this more. picnic dates."

i smile back at him, "i was just thinking that."

-

we're walking back to the apartment. it's windy and the air is cold. but all i feel is warmth in my stomach. a feeling that i wish would never go away.

he opens the door for me. i walk toward the door and he throws the blanket on the couch and swoops me up. i drop the basket out of surprise.

he carries me to the bedroom.

"are you my knight in shining armor?" i ask him.

he laughs, "but of course," he says.

he throws me on the bed.

"I AM THE KNIGHT!"

he jumps right next to me, our feet hanging off the bed, and our faces close, as we're giggling, seconds away from kissing.

i wish this moment would never end.
