In Qing Qiu, Fengjiu was woken by Zhe Yan and they walked over to the main cave for the Fox Emperor. When walked in, they both bowed to him. She said, "I Feng Jiu, greet Grandpa."
"Sister Fengjiu!" A'Li shouted and ran over to her.
She smiled when jumped into her arms. She stroked his face and smiled. She thought to herself, 'He grows so quickly. Just like....' No she couldn't allow herself to mourn.
Then she looked up and saw her Grandfather's face. She pulled A'Li away from her, because she knew she would have to kneel.
Zhe Yan smiled and stroked A'Li's head.
Her Grandfather looked at her with frustration on his face. "Fengjiu, you said you were touring the Immortal Mountains. That would only take a few days, so why are you just now home?"
She didn't try to explain herself, because she knew he was too angry to hear.
"Kneel," her Grandfather commanded.
Fengjiu knelt and he sat down. He stated, "You are the Imperial Princess of Qing Qiu. Even if you haven't undergone the Ceremony of Weapon Hiding, you should still act in a dignified manner."
"Grandfather, I know that I've done wrong," Fengjiu stated.
Zhe Yan walked over to him. "Fengjiu is still young. It's normal to be naughty."
Fengjiu said, "I was too naughty. I am sorry, Grandfather."
A'Li pouted. "Grandfather, Sister Fengjiu must have accidentally lost her way. She's so pitiful. Look how she has gotten thin from starvation. Please don't scold Fengjiu."
Fengjiu looked down, trying to stay pitiful looking.
Grandfather glared at her. "Since you were young, you always had a backer." Zhe Yan looked away, trying to look innocent. He looked back at her. "Who in whole of Qing Qiu does not dote and tolerate you? You've been spoiled enough to become a devil incarnate. You dare to cause trouble."
She took the pitiful look off her face. She thought to herself, 'So long ago...when he spoke to me...I never really listened. It is true...I always had someone to bail me out of trouble, and because of that, I never cared to train or follow the rules. It might even be the reason things ended the way that they did.'
He sighed, "Fengjiu." Then he stood up and continued, "When your mother gave birth to you, it was so difficult. Miao Luo covered the sky with her magic, and was wrecking havoc everywhere. Your Mother had to join the battle for Qing Qiu while she was pregnant with you. She almost died."
She thought to herself, 'I never deeply thought about the things he said on this day so long ago...but he is right my mother must have been in so much pain. When I gave birth...it was very painful and I went through it with no family, and only a physician in the mortal realm. I was scared and alone...what must mother have felt with a war going on with no one to hold her hand? Not even a physician.'
Her Grandfather continued, "It wasn't easy for Miao Luo to finally be defeated by Dijun and be sealed away. Your birth was deemed as an auspicious sign in the whole Four Seas and Eight Wildernesses. The great disaster has passed, and peaceful days just starting a little girl with a birthmark of a plumed cockscomb on her forehead appeared in our Bai Family." He smiled softly. "Which famous and well-respected immortal did not come to attend your birthday party to give you their blessings? You grew up surrounded by abundant love. Everyone was especially forgiving to you. Even I bypassed your father and brought you to my side so I could personally educate you. If anything bad happens to you, have you ever thought about your mother? About Qing Qiu?"
Fengjiu felt saddened. 'I have let my family and friends down for so long. Never using my full potential...I was surrounded by love and never fully appreciated my blessings. I am...ashamed of who I was.'
She felt tears pour down her face. "I am... sorry. I am so sorry. You once told me that actions speak louder than words...I will become the best Queen in Qing Qiu. I swear it to you." Her Grandfather and Zhe Yan looked at her shocked by her words. She continued, "I want to start training and I want you to teach me everything you can about ruling." She scooted over while staying on her kneeds to take her Grandfather's hand. "I am finally ready."
Her Grandfather looked at her and could see sincerity in eyes. "You look...more mature."
"On my journey...I learned a lot," she sighed. "You're right, I've taken so much for granted, but not anymore."
Her Grandfather nodded. "Good." He stroked her hair. "I know you'll make me proud."
A'Li looked happy that Fengjiu wasn't in trouble and ran over to her. "Sister Fengjiu, let's go play."
Fengjiu stroked his arm. She looked at her Grandfather. "I'm going to take A'Li to pluck loquat fruits. We won't hold up High God Zhe Yan from talking serious matters with you."
He smiled. "Go on then."
She bowed. "Thank you, Grandfather. I shall be ready to start training tomorrow."
Then she grabbed A'Li's hand and ran off, with Zhe Yan and The fox king looking shocked.
As they ran out to play in the meadows, she watched little A'Li run free. She thought to herself, 'It's time I start thinking about people other than myself.'
(A/N Another chapter! Everything is going perfectly! P.S The chapters are about to get long again! I think one more shorter chapter. These were shorter because of the smaller important moments!)
