Eternal Love of Dream Chapter 31

Xuanren wanted to be with Xiao Jiu, but he had to trust his guards and physicians to watch over her. He told them to report to him if anything went wrong.

Right now he was at the trial. Many of his officials were upset that he took Xiao Jiu from the prison. He thought to himself, 'They will have to get over it. Xiao Jiu has suffered an injustice. I know she had nothing to do with the poisoning...luckily I had Qingti on the matter and he reported to me this morning that he had evidence of Xiao Jiu's innocence.' Therefore he immediately called for a trial.

He watched as his officials whispered among themselves. They were all waiting for Qingti to come back. His highest ranking Concubine, Jieyu Wan was also there, as was protocol. Although, after today, that wouldn't be true. Xuanren was making Xiao Jiu his highest ranking wife. He didn't care if his mother didn't agree.

A moment later his brother and Royal Mother walked inside with a scowl on her face, while his brother had no expression.

Qingti rushed inside and walked right to Xuanren's throne. He bowed. "Your Majesty, I have the evidence ready."

"Good," Xuanren replied. Then he stood up from his throne and shouted, " General Qingti has brought evidence of Meiren Jiu's innocence." He pointed to Qingti. "Present the evidence."

Qingti bowed. "Yes, Your Majesty." He then waved to one of the guards. The guard brought over two broken plates. He showed that the plate itself was poisoned and not the actual cakes. Everyone in the room gasped.

Qingti continued, "I interrogated not only Meiren Jiu but all the maids. Finally, the maid that was the most suspicious finally admitted that she wanted to poison His Majesty."

Xuanren glared and shouted. "Bring her to me."

A moment later, a woman with long tangled hair, who couldn't have been older than Xiao Jiu. She had a seething look on her face.

He asked, "Why did you try poison me?"

The woman scoffed. "Because you are not worthy of being Emperor of Chengyu State!"

"How dare you, you lowly slave! How can you be so disrespectful to His Majesty!" one of his official's shouted angrily.

The woman laughed. "What Emperor is this? Just a man who indulges himself in beautiful woman and is an incompetent person." Then she glared. "You are not worthy of being Emperor of Chengyu State!" Suddenly, before anyone knew what the woman was going to do. She grabbed the closest sword from the hip of one of the soldier's holding her down. She swung it around, making everyone back away.

She looked at the Emperor and ran towards him as fast as she could. The brother of Xuanren immediately stopped her before she could reach Xuanren. The woman looked at the brother in shock and he sliced her throat.

Xuanren looked at his brother in shock. His brother bowed and stated, "Your Majesty, you have been traumatized. The real killer has been executed. Please be at ease."

He was thankful that his brother protected him, but Xuanren had wanted to question the maid more. He wished to know where she got those ideas. He had never been one to indulge in women. 'In fact, I've never slept with any of my wives, and not even a prostitute. I saved that part of myself for Xiao Jiu.' He sighed. 'I just wonder what created so much hate in that maid's heart...but I guess I'll never know.'

Xuanren nodded to his brother to show his thanks.

Fengjiu felt she was being smothered by everyone that kept coming and leaving. She was informed that Xuanren had evidence of her innocence and he held a quick trial. She sighed, 'I had wanted to be there.' But she knew that in her condition, that it wouldn't have been good.
