The next day, Fengjiu was about to go out because she had finally gotten her title. Also, it was considered to the the first day of summer. To celebrate the first day of summer, The Emperor had called on all his concubines to go outside and admire the Palace garden, and right after would be a feast.

She was quickly dressed in a pure white dress. Also, she had elaborate hairpin in her hair that she knew was given by Xuanren.

She was very happy to be out in nature. As a person from Qing Qiu, they made sure to go outside often. To them it was unnatural to stay inside all day. (A/N Unfortunately I would be considered unnatural to them LOL. Being inside is my life.)

Muyun was following behind her. Fengjiu stroked a beautiful flower that was blossoming. She said, "Finally I can be outside. Just seeing the sun has made me happy."

Muyun smiled. "You finally have been granted the title Meiren Jiu. I am glad."

Fengjiu was about to reply when she heard someone approach her. She turned around and saw two concubines and one maid. She remembered the one arrogant concubine from the past. She knew the ways of the harem and knew that concubines battled each other for favor of the Emperor. 'They did it for money, jewels, children...and some for love.'

The concubine asked, "Are you Meiren Jiu?"

Fengjiu wanted to maintain grace, even though the idea of these women being married to Xuanren made her blood boil beneath her skin. She replied, "Yes, Greetings Sisters."

The arrogant concubine said through gritted teeth. "Meiren Jiu, you are indeed beautiful. No wonder His Majesty only favors you." She had a frustrated look on her face.

Fengjiu knew it was best to stay away from them. She had to remind herself that she would be leaving in a month. She put a fake smile on her face. "You are overpraising me, Elder Sister."

Suddenly they heard Chief Eunuch's booming voice. "His Majesty has arrived!"

Xuanren watched as all his concubines that he never visits bow, but his focus was on Xiao Jiu, who bowed as well. He walked straight to her, his eyes never leaving. 'She looks so beautiful in white.'

He barely heard all those around say. "Greetings, Your Majesty." It was a whisper to him when all he could see was her.

He helped her off her knees. After staring at her beauty for a moment he remembered that others were around. "All of you may rise."

He heard them better this time. "Thank you, Your Majesty."

Clearing his throat, he said, "There are no outsiders who will admire the flowers with us today. No need to restrain yourselves."

Although he was reluctant to look away from Xiao Jiu, he knew it was important that he make sure all his Concubines were healthy and safe. It took him a moment to notice that Jieyu Wan was not there.

He asked, "Where is Jieyu Wan?"

"Replying to Your Majesty, after receiving the longkong fruits that you bestowed this morning, Jieyu Wan suddenly developed homesickness. She was in deep sorrow, and her health couldn't take it," Chief Eunuch explained. "She was afraid it would affect your pleasant mood, so she did not dare come."

Xuanren sighed to himself. 'Though I don't want to be with Jieyu Wan...As a gentleman I should have made a bigger effort to see her at least once before now.'

He wondered aloud. "Since she entered the palace, I have never visited her Wanyun Palace. Could it be that mistook my actions as deliberately ignoring her?"
