Eternal Love of Dream Chapter 24

Two days later, she passed by The Princess's rooms. Fengjiu was glad she had the excuse of being a guard. The Princess was leaning forward and she looked to be crying, and the maid that she had come with her, was hold her close.

Fengjiu wondered to herself, 'What is going on?' She was still waiting for Si Ming to come back and report on the girl, but he hadn't yet.

The next night, she was getting ready to go to bed, when she heard a knock at her door. She walked over and heard a Eunuch call out. "Leader Bai."

"Who is it?" Fengjiu asked.

"His Majesty summons you," he replied.

Fengjiu then remembered he would want to go into the cold palace. 'Things are going the right way. That is a good sign.'

Then she put on a robe and walked out, and she followed him all the way to the Cold Palace. Once they got there, the Eunuch handed her a lamp and walked away. Fengjiu already felt the cold seeping into her body, by just being near the palace. She hadn't been looking forward to this. She looked around for Xuanren and saw him walk over to her.

He smiled. "Thanks for coming, Xiao Jiu."

She nodded. "Your Majesty, why did you suddenly think of touring the Cold Palace?"

Xuanren shook his head. "Not touring. I am looking for someone."

"I thought you gave up," Fengjiu replied.

He sighed. "I said before that I could not forget her, and that I fell for her at first sight."

"But General Ye told me-"

Xuanren interrupted. "Qingti has never been in love. How can he understand me?" Then he asked, "Did you ever have someone you loved?"

Fengjiu was suddenly thinking of her white hair and purple robe husband. How he had saved her time after time, how he kissed her, how they had made love, how they had been broken a part, and lastly how he died. She swallowed that lump in her throat. 'I can't let him die again.' She replied with a whisper, "Yes, very much."

He couldn't see the tearful expression because of the dark. He said, "Then you can understand me." Then he looked at the Cold Palace with a hopeful expression. "I especially hired you to ensure my protection. Will you come with me?"

She nodded. "Yes."

Xuanren was still looking at the Cold Palace. "For hundreds of years, women who are in utter despair have been the ones living here. Their pain and hopelessness have nourished this place."

 He head Xiao Jiu ask, "How can you be sure the person you love is here?"

"It's the only place that Qingti did not check," he replied. "My only hope is in this place."

He was suddenly thinking of the beautiful woman from the pond. 'I want to find her. I love her and will always protect her.'

Xuanren told Xiao Jiu, "If she is here, I will personally take her away from this lonely place." Then he finally turned to look at Xiao Jiu. "Let's go."

Xiao Jiu nodded and they both walked into the entrance of the Cold Palace.

Fengjiu saw the overgrown weeds taking over most of the statues. She wanted to wrap her arms around herself because of the cold, but she was carrying a lantern. She shivered again as they walked passed the big doorway. One could tell that the Palace was not being looked after, and there was dust layering every surface. They continued to walk down the hall and went into each room. 

After each room, she could tell Xuanren became more and more dejected. When they made it to the final room, she saw the anticipation on his face. She opened the door for him, and he walked in and looked around.

Xuanren felt defeated. 'I really thought I could find my love...where is she?'

"Let's go, Xiao Jiu," he stated.

They both walked out of the palace. His arm was touched by Xiao Jiu, and it was strange because he felt a rush of warmth. He turned to look at him.

Xiao Jiu said, "She will find you soon, Your Majesty."

He asked sadly, "How do you know?"

Fengjiu looked him in the eyes. "Because I know you won't give up.  I believe that your love is everlasting."

He looked at her strange. "I've never heard a man talk like you."

Fengjiu shrugged. "I've always been different...but I do mean it. She will come for you."

Xuanren felt a rush of hopefulness at Xiao Jiu's words. "Thank you, Xiao Jiu."

He smiled. "Why don't you get some sleep. Things will be better tomorrow."

Xuanren nodded. "Goodnight, Xiao Jiu." Then he walked off, still feeling a bit saddened that he didn't find his love. He thought to himself as he walked into his personal quarters. 'Xiao Jiu is right. I am never one to give up. I will wait for her.'

Fengjiu got to her room and saw Si Ming and Cheng Yu.

She went to sit down next to them. "Did you find anything?"

Si Ming looked troubled. "Yes, The Princess is indeed an Immortal...a demon in fact."

Fengjiu gasped. "A demon..."

"Did you see anything, Little Princess?" he asked seriously. "This is important."

"I haven't seen anything up here." Fengjiu tapped at her head. "But I have walked around as a guard and observed." She leaned forward on the table. "This morning I saw her crying and her personal maid that came with her was crying too."

Si Ming sighed. "Not only is the Princess a demon but so is her guard." He shook his head. "This is not good. As you know, any immortal that hasn't had their memory taken, they can change my script. They can change fate in this realm." He looked nervous. "Maybe I should inform Heavenly Monarch."

"No!" Fengjiu shouted. Si Ming and Cheng Yu looked at her in shock. She continued, "I can handle this. If I need anything, I will let you know. No one can know what is happening."

She thought to herself, 'I can't let the Nine Heavens find out that he is here. I have to protect Dong Hua myself.'

She stated, "I can protect him."

Si Ming looked at her seriously. "Are you sure? Little Princess, this is serious. The safety of the realms are at risk."

Fengjiu looked at him. "I'm not the same girl that you knew Si Ming. I will protect Dong Hua with my life."

Si Ming and Cheng Yu looked surprised. Cheng Yu stated, "You called him Dong Hua."

She sighed. "I can handle this. Just make sure that no one else finds out about him being here."

Si Ming stared at her for a moment, and saw what he needed to in her expression. "Alright, Little Princess."

"I'll call on you both later, I need to think," Fengjiu told them.

They both nodded and teleported away.

Fengjiu thought to herself, 'I must quickly reveal myself tomorrow. I have to get him to fall deeper in love with me and then leave as quickly as possible. I won't think of the heartbreak.' She continued, 'Nie Chuyin doesn't know that I know what he wants. I know how this is supposed to end. I just have to keep moving forward.'
