Xuanren saw as a small woman walked into his Palace. Everyone all around whispered.
"She is so beautiful!"
"How lucky the Emperor is to receive such a beauty."
"She looks like an angel!"
He observed as she walked forward gracefully and thought about what the people around him were saying. 'I guess she is beautiful...' But he felt no spark, nothing that would make him want her. He sighed. 'Why can't I love someone, even though I have wives?' He shook his head. 'It doesn't matter. This is for my country!'
She stopped in front of his throne. "I, Chu Wan, greet Your Majesty."
'I wonder if she is just trying to appear humble, even though she was a princess.' he thought to himself. He hated how jaded he had become since becoming Emperor, but he had learned that people would be fake with him and also they would want things from him.
"Please rise," Xuanren said. "Princess, did you get hurt?"
The Princess smiled. "Thank you, Your Majesty. I am very well and I have no injuries."
He nodded in response and felt awful. 'I should feel more concerned for her...but I only care about the alliance.' Xuanren knew that he would have to appease not only her but the people who sent her here. "Princess, you met with an assassination attempt upon entering our capital. I am sure you are traumatized. I will send people to investigate this matter. I will surely give you and explanation."
The Princess nodded with a graceful smile on her face. "Thank you, Your Majesty. I am very grateful."

Then he stated, "Since your name is Chu Wan, I will confer you as Beautiful Lady Wan, 3rd highest rank in the harem. You are to live in Wanyun Palace."
