Dorothy was delighted to hear that omnibuses were operating on the cut-off section of the railroad. However, she was worried about being attacked by monsters again. Still she had to go to join Giles on the Argo. If Giles was found by the crew, he might be killed as a monster. Dorothy was the only one who could protect Giles.
The omnibus was just a wagon without a hood. Dorothy sat crammed into the narrow bed with the other passengers. The omnibus had no suspension (because hay and milk pails don't complain) and shook violently over rough, bumpy roads.
On their way they passed a maze-like place. The coachman explained that the gunmen, led by Pat Garrett, killed the Minotaur here.
"They're a great crew," said the coachman. "Wyatt Earp, Buffalo Bill, Calamity Jane, Geronimo and even Billy the Kid."
"Billy the Kid is dead," protested one passenger.
"Actually, Billy wasn't dead. Pat Garrett had secretly escaped him to Mexico."
"Tell me more," asked Dorothy. She diligently took notes in her notebook in a swinging carriage.
