While Orpheus Granger and Bonnie Monaghan rescued the survivors, Pat Garrett, Billy Chen, Lou Blackman, Slim, and Frank 'Mad Bomber Zuckerman" attacked Cyclops with their respective weapons. Slim, who has both broken legs, was in a vehicle called a bus chair. This was a self-propelled wheelchair with a steering device. He shot the Cyclops' only eye with an elephant gun fitted with an optical sight.

"Eek!"

Cyclops covered his eyes with one hand, and with the other pulled out a fir tree and threw it blindly.

The tree flew toward Mrs. Miller. Mrs. Miller was paralyzed with fear. "Oh my god," Mrs. Miller closed her eyes in resignation. The next moment, someone pushed her from behind and she fell forward. She instinctively held her head. A tree passed over her head. Then she timidly raised her face. She was safe. "Oh Lord, thank you." She got up and made a cross.

The Cyclops staggered away. The Rough Riders didn't chase.

"Thank you for your help," Mr. Miller said to Orpheus.

"Is everyone here?"

"Yes."

"That's strange. I just counted six, but one is missing."

"It can't be," Mr. Miller reconfirmed. There were Mr. Miller, Mr. Gillespie, and Mr. Tate.

"There's no Dorothy," cried Mrs. Gillespie.

"Where did she go?"

"Last time I saw her, She was right behind Faye," said Mrs. Gillespie. "Fei, did you notice something?"

Mrs. Miller recalled. "Come to think of it, someone pushed me from behind when the fir tree flew towards me... Oh, it was Dorothy. Dorothy, you sacrificed yourself to save me."
