Dorothy and the other survivors huddled in the shade of the pinyon pines to fend off the naked giants as they passed.

"What are they?"

Mrs. Miller answered Mrs. Gillespie's question. "Aren't they giants?"

"I can't believe that giants actually exist. Could it be that we wandered into the land of giants in Gulliver's Travels? Or did our bodies shrink?"

"We haven't changed," replied Mr. Miller. "The world has changed. Something happened in San Francisco."

"Don't talk about that," interrupted Mr. Gillespie impatiently. "Anyway, let's hurry up and get out of here. Are you sure you're heading this way?"

"From the position of the sun, it is certain that it is east."

"OK. Let's go."

They started moving again. Dorothy wanted to head west to San Francisco instead of east, but she couldn't be selfish now. She decided to follow everyone.

After a while, there was another giant. Cyclops, a one eyed Titan. They hid in the goldenroy bushes and held their breath.

Mr. Tate was breathing heavily as he embraced the briefcase, which was more important than his life. Evidently he was at his mental limit.

"I hate it, I hate it!"

Mr. Tate yelled and ran out of the bushes.

By the time Dorothy realized it was too late. It was too far to bring him back. The two wives let out a muffled scream.

Cyclops noticed Mr. Tate. It strode after him and reached out to catch him. However, Mr. Tate suddenly disappeared. Actually, it seemed to Dorothy that he had disappeared. Someone had thrown a lasso around Mr. Tate's body, pulling him away from the Cyclops.

Then there was a gunshot and the Cyclops flinched.

"Everyone, come here!"

A finely dressed black boy was waving at Dorothy and the others. There was a cowgirl next to him. She held back Mr. Tate, who was struggling like a wild horse.

"We are here to help you!" cried Orpheus.
