Death of a Hero

It would be a few weeks before the Titans could reach us. We sent in a nuke to Tartarus and it seemed to have work except for the fact that Typhon blew it up before it could really harm them.
Augustus and all of our best fighters and leaders came to the city. Together we sat at the council room again. Their was still a empty chair though.
"The Titans shall be here in a matter of weeks or all we know days." I said. "We need to be able to defend ourselves."
"And how do we do that?" Jerome asked. "If you guys go down than its all over."
"Charles tell them the plan." I said.
He nodded than started talking. "There's one way to win for sure. Caleb and I can make any armor into a power metal like ours." Charles said. "Just pick what you wanna be. You'll be like us when we first got our armor years ago."
"What are the classes?" Pluto asked.
"There's the Solarium, Cayden's metal, which gives control over fire, light and you can fly. Who wants that?"
"I'll take that." Pluto said.
"Me too." Nico said.
"Fuck it I might as well." Robinson said.
Five more hands raised. I snapped my fingers and what they had changed to Solarium.
"Next is the Herculean armor." I said. "Who wants it?" Jack, Maxwell and a few others raised their hands. I snapped my fingers again and everything was Herculean. "Oceanium?" More hands went up including Jeromes. "Stormium?" More hands went up including Augustus'. "That's it. Voidium and Kronium will not be used."
"Why not?" Someone asked.
"Voidium is too poweful. The others are too but it's stronger. Kronium is not to be used in honor of Connor." I said.
Connor was alive but he was out of the fight due to his wounds. Did I think that stop him? No he's a stubborn son of a bitch.
Another twenty minutes everyone had their armor, weapons and a solid plan. Hopefully it could work. If not we all are screwed.
I walked out of the conference. Then the guys came up.
"Caleb we need to train them.. And ourselves." Wyatt said. He had his spear, swords and shield on his back and sides.
"Yeah man I know." I said.
"We need them trained and we need to fight with what we know how to use best." Charles said.
"No shit I never would've guessed." I said. "Is anyone gonna tell me something I didn't know?" There was a silence. "Ok so looks like we can go on with our day?"
"Yeah we can." Matthew said.
We all started walking away but I stopped. "Guys." I said with a sigh. They turned around. "You guys are my brothers and best friends. I wouldn't have made it this far in anything without you... Whatever happens just know I wouldn't trade a single moment or time we've had together for anything."
"Caleb why are you telling us this?" Cayden asked.
I just smiled. "You'll find out." I said and than, what probably surprised them all, gave them all a hug and a friendly punch on the arm.
I left and immediately went to my house. I got to my computer and turned it on. The screen showed a live video of the Titans marching. They hadn't discovered my personal spy drone, Drone 0929, spying on them.
I shut my laptop and set up a little surprise. Than I called Charles.
"Charles? Remember that drone I had you make? 0929?" I asked.
"Yeah what about it?"
"What's its coordinates?"
"Um let me check." He said. "I just sent them to your phone."
"Ok thanks man."
"Why do you need them?"
"For me to know and you to never find out. Anyways thanks man see you." I said before I hung up.
I got my armor and weapons ready. In an hour I would travel to the drone. There I would confront the Titans alone.
I told my family I was gonna go practice at the arena and than left. I made my way to Ashley's house. This would be the harder part.
I knocked on the door and waited. A few seconds later she opened it. She was in skinny jeans, a white tank top and Vans.
"Hey Caleb I didn't expect you to drop by." She said.
"Yeah well I have to do something.... Important.." I said. She gave me a weird look. "It's nothing I just wanted to stop by here to see you before."
"Caleb what are you doing?"
"It's nothing Ashley."
"Than tell me."
"You know I love you right?"
That took her off guard. "Of course. Were engaged after all." She said as she pointed to her engagement ring.
"Good. I just want you to know whatever happens I love you more than anything." I said.
"Caleb what are you going to do?" She said.
I kissed her and held her for a minute. Than I let go and held her by the shoulders. "I'm going to make everything right Ashley."
"What do you mean?" She said. I could see the worry in her eyes.
"Your the most beautiful person ever." I said. My eyes were watering a little bit. "I love you Ashley. But I have to go now. Goodbye." I kissed her and than teleported away.
I teleported to a tree in the center of the city. There, carved in its bark were these words.
"We may not survive and may not get out of here. But as long as we have our brothers here with us it'll all be ok. Nothing will destroy this brotherhood, this family. Signed Caleb Boomer, Matthew Seiter, Cayden Ball, Wyatt Flyng and Charles Nidle."
I ran my hand over those words. Than I sprouted wings and started flying to the Titans at about Mach 1. Soon I would be at the Titans.
Within half an hour I was there. I saw the Titan army, the largest army I've ever seen. There had to be over a googleplex of them. There was no way I could win. But I'd go down fighting.
I raised a wall of dark energy around where they were marching. I looked back and noticed something fly into the wall right before it closed and stop next to me. It was Charles.
"Charles you idiot! Now you'll die here!" I yelled.
"Look I knew you were doing something weird so I had to check it out." He said. His iron man armor was spiked now like his other armor and had blades on his arms. He wore his war armor.
"Charles get out of here!" I said.
"I'm afraid I cant.. Get down!" He yelled before pushing me out of the of a blast of red lightning.
"Charles!" I yelled. He took the blast for me. He started to fall but I caught him.
His armor was smoking. He was quiet for a few seconds before he started to claw at the air. He shot himself down at the Titans in a nose dive.
I followed him but I aimed for one specific Titan. The one who was in the front. Typhon.
I tackled him and dragged his body through the crowd of Titans and than threw his body at the barrier. He kicked off it and came flying back at me with his mace. His wings were like Ererbus', blood red bones.
I drew my hammer and we clashed. The second our weapons clashed a sonic boom exploded knocking down everyone. We shot back from eachother thirty feet before continuing to attack eachother.
He was stronger than Erebus now. He could wipe out any of my friends with no problem.
I kept striking and dodging. We were keeping eachother at bay and he hadn't even started yet. He was taking his time leisurely dodging and striking.
I saw Charles down there. He wasn't doing so hot now. I mean he wiped out a few hundred million but compared to a googleplex he was doomed. A Titan stabbed him in the back of the leg with his sword. Than while he was down one jumped up and slammed a hammer so hard over his head his helmet broke in half.
If I didn't do something he would die. I acted quick. I flashed a beam at light at Typhons face and flew to Charles. Before I hit the ground lightning struck my hammer. I slammed it into the ground creating a sonic boom of lightning that killed the next few hundred surrounding Titans. I grabbed Charles in one arm and held the other Titans off with my warhammer in the other.
"Get back! Every one of you!" I said. I started to drag Charles back while swiping my hammer every time one came close.
Typhon flew down. He landed than started walking my way. He held his mace in his hand. A few Titans, bigger than the others followed him.
One looked like the giant man made of water that beat Matthew but smaller and a Titan. One looked like a Titan version of the giant that had defeated Charles. Another Titan version of the giants that took down Wyatt. One that looked the Titan version of the giants that bested Connor. Finally one had scaly skin like the snake that swallowed Cayden.
"Brother what should we do with the the injured one?" The blue Titan, the one that looked like the water man that beat Matthew, asked.
"I say we kill him like the giants I absorbed should've done in the first place." The silver skinned one said.
"I agree with Oceanus and Iapetus." The scaly one said.
"You just want to kill him yourself Hyperion!" The one said with a black, silver and white skin. He had gold eyes like Connor.
"Enough Kronos and the rest of you!" A storm grey Titan yelled. He had tattoes of storms on his body.
"Thank you Astreus." Typhon said. His voice was harsh. "And I will kill him."
"Like hell you will!" I yelled. I threw my hammer at him. He deflected it with his mace.
"Little hero you can't stop me now." He said. He shot a bolt of lightning at me which knocked me away from Charles.
I managed to catch myself. Before I could react he was on Charles. He twisted the handle on his mace and the spikes started spinning like chainsaws. He slammed the mace into Charles' chest and ripped through his armor.
Charles gasped and spit up blood. Typhon raised his mace and than kicked Charles which sent him flying towards me. He landed a few feet away and rolled to my feet.
"Charles!" I yelled and ran to him. I kneeled down next to him."Charles it's gonna be ok just stay with me!"
He coughed and spit up some blood. "You know it's not gonna be ok Caleb." He said and coughed up some more blood.
"Don't talk! We can fix this!" I said.
He grabbed my hand. "Listen to me Caleb. You, the guys and everyone else including this world have been good to me." He said. "My sacrifice is the least I can do to repay it. Don't let it be in vain though. You guys can win. Kill these bastards for me. And thank you for being my brother."
"Charles.. Don't go man we need you." I said. I had tears in my eyes.
He smiled. "It'll be ok. Thank you my brother." He said. Than his head and body went limp.
"Charles?" I said. Than I started shaking him. "Charles come on man wake up it'll be ok! Wake up! Charles!"
His body vanished in my arms. I don't how or what happened but he vanished in my arms. I got up and wiped the tears off my face.
"I'm going to kill every last one of YOU PIECES OF FILTH!" I yelled before exploding energy all around me.
The next surrounding couple hundred thousand Titans died except for Typhon and his brothers. His brothers were blown back but Typhon stood his ground. He just smirked and raised his mace.
"Finally now my warm-up can begin!" He yelled. He flew at me with his mace.
"I'll kill you!" I yelled and flew at him at what seemed to be Mach 2 with my sword.
We kept clashing and trading blow for blow faster than the eye could see. All you could see was the sonic boom made every time we hit. We were evenly matched.
I took the form of my combat avatar and kicked him in the face before returning to normal size. Before he could recover I shadow traveled as fast as I could around him and kept striking, disappearing and reappearing each strike. Finally I appeared above him and shot a ball of dark energy down on him which shot him out of the sky.
He landed on the ground and I kicked him to the wall of energy but he bounced off and disappeared. He reappeared behind me and slammed me in the back with his mace. My sword was knocked out of my hand.
He went to swing but I ducked into his strike and delivered several blows that stunned him for a second and knocked the mace out of his hand. He recovered and we started fighting hand to hand.
We moved with lightning fast reflexes and were at a draw. He teleported behind me and wrapped his arm around my throat. I elbowed him in the ribs ten times before he let go and I flung him over my shoulder.
"So you want to play that way huh!" I said before wrapping both my arms around his neck.
He got up and started stumbling. He hit his back but I didn't let go. Than I realized what he was reaching for but it was too late.
He grabbed his mace put it against his shoulder below where my heart was. He twisted the handle like he did hefore but this time a spike shot out of the top part of the mace. I gasped and let go as the spike pierced through my heart.
I fell to the ground holding my chest. I almost had him. I was so close.
He got up and stumbled toward me. "You put up a better fight than the old heroes. I'll give you that." He said. "You almost had me. I'll need to be stronger. Sadly my kin that you killed have no use now. So now I think I'll just do this."
All the Titans that were killed turned to energy and flew towards him. The beams collided with his body and after the light faded he was stronger and healed.
"Ah! So much better!" He said.
"You... You'll never win." I gasped and spit up blood.
"Oh but little hero. I just did." He said. The last thing before everything went black I saw was him laughing.

Caydens POV

"Cayden! Get to the HQ quick." Wyatt yelled in my phone.
"Ok ok God don't have to yell." I said. I flashed myself there. Wyatt and Matthew were there. "What's wrong?"
"Look at the screen!" They yelled.
I looked at the screen. I saw Charles and Caleb fighting the Titans. Than I saw Typhon kill Charles.

Matthews POV

I stood there in horror as I watched Charles die. I wasn't as close to him as the others but still.. He was one of my best friends.
"That's it I'm going after them!" Wyatt said.
"Wyatt wait I tried to send myself there.. We can't.." I said.
"And why the hell can't we!?" He yelled.
"Because that energy barrier Caleb has? Its blocking us out." I said.
"Well maybe you couldn't get through but I'm stronger! I'm going to help them!" He yelled before running outside while Cayden and I stood there in horror.

Wyatts POV

I couldn't believe Charles died. Now I was pissed. I ran outside the HQ with lightning all around me. I could smell the Ozone in the air.
I made it outside and turned completely into lightning. In half a second I was shot into the barrier Caleb made. But I just bounced back to the city. I tried two more times before Matthew said to come back.
I flashed into the room. It looked like Caleb was beating that Typhon asshole but than it happened. Typhon shot a spike into Caleb's heart.
I stood there in horror as my best friend, my brother died on the ground while Typhon just powered up. Matthew and Cayden had tears rolling down their faces and you could hear them sniffle.
I stumbled back and put my head in my heads. "No no no no! This can't be happening! This cannot be happening!" I said. I had tears rolling down my face. I fell down and cried.
Than I heard someone's voice. It was Ashley's. She was standing in the doorway crying.
"Why didn't you all help him!" She yelled. "Why didn't you help him! Now he's dead! Calebs dead!" She put her hands in her head and started crying more.
I got up and walked over to her. "Ashley we tried. That barrier he put up stopped us. Those flashes of lightning you saw hit the barrier were me." I said. "I'm sorry I miss him as much as you do."
"He's gone." She kept saying.
"I know." I said. I hugged her while she kept crying. "But we gotta keep moving. He's gone which means we need to do something because now there's nothing besides us stopping the Titans."
She kept crying. Eventually everyone came in. Calebs family and all of ours. Ashley's mom and dad comforted her. Everyone was comforting someone.
Connor even came in, almost fully recovered. He seemed pretty good because when he came in he kicked the door and sent it flying. Natalia was under his arm keeping him standing. He came in and walked to us before starting to cry.
Two days later we did a huge funeral, but we had no bodies as Calebs had disappeared like Charles' did. Statues were made in their honor as we lowered the empty caskets into the ground.
We had no more time to grieve though. They slowed the Titans down maybe a week. That gave us time we couldn't waste. Even with the death of our two heroes we had to move on.
