The festival was finally here. Ashley was in our room doing her makeup, my family moved out so we had the whole palace to ourselves. She was doing her lipstick while I was throwing on my unbuttoned flannel shirt over my black shirt. She got up and looked at me.
"You know you don't need makeup right?" I said as I kissed her. She got up on her tiptoes and wrapped her arms around my neck.
"I know but I know you love the wing I do above my eyes." She said and batted her eyelashes. She was right I did love it. "Besides its a celebration of the end of the hard times we went though. We can focus on us now instead of trying to stop the apocalypse."
"Oh I'm focusing on you alright." I said as I grabbed her ass. She had the best ass I've ever seen and she was in her favorite blue skinny jeans. She had on her Vans and my one flannel shirt that looked amazing on her.
"I know you love the fact that I have an amazing ass, huge tits and a perfect body but can we wait till after the festival for this?" She said.
"Fine." I said and kissed her. "I love you and I can't wait for what's next for us."
"Well next week is our wedding." She said.
"I cant wait." I said.
"Me neither." She said and kissed me. "I'll meet you downstairs ok?"
"Ok I'll be down I'll just shut this stuff off first." I said. She walked out and I looked around the room.
It had changed a little bit since I first got here. From mine and Ashley's redecorating yeah but it just seemed.. Peaceful these past few days.
I walked outside and onto the balcony. I looked out on the city. It seemed changed too. Yes it was increased in size, had more houses, buildings and stuff but it just seemed.. Changed.. Reborn somehow for the better.
I walked back inside and in front of the mirror. I had changed since this all started too. I was bigger in every way, stronger and wiser but that would've happened anyways with age. Yes my eyes had changed to all the colors of the galaxy swirling together and my hair turned black but I still wasnt that different. I was dressed in the same clothes I always was in too.
A red and black unbuttoned flannel shirt that was over a pure black shirt. I had on jeans and my Vans. My hair was gelled up and I had my medallion I started this all off with on. My hand had on mine and Ashley's engagement ring.
It was the war. It had changed me on the inside. It had made me into a stronger man. A wiser one too. The hardships and times had made me wise, stronger and more of a man than any age or maturity would've done. But it wasn't that part that changed me completely. No it was the release of stress from knowing it was over. I could be truly happy again with all these changes.
I swear I saw younger me in the reflection in the mirror. He looked up at me and offered his hand. When I went to take it his reflection vanished. Ashley came in than.
"Caleb you ok?" She asked. She came up next to me and grabbed my arm. "What you thinking about?"
"Just how things have changed. How the weight of the world isn't on my shoulders anymore." I said. "But I wouldn't change anything that happened. It made me into the wise, courageous and strong man I am now. But now I can focus on being happy instead of the war. It's... Amazing to be able to focus about myself now and be free."
"I know what you mean. You had it the worst though. Having to lead and everything." She said. She looked at us in the mirror. "But those hard times brought the best times as well. And forged new brotherhoods, love and futures. It's changed all of us, even this world for the better."
"And now it's time to make even brighter futures." I said and kissed her. "Like ours."
"And the first step is making it to the festival." She said and laughed guiding me to the door.
I looked in the mirror one last time. "Yes it is." I said and we walked out.
The festival took place across the whole city and into the field where the battle was fought. The land had healed and was even more beautiful and life sustaining than before. The desert outside of it had changed to a beautiful field with green grass and amazing wildilife.
I met with the others at the festival in the city square. We sat at the platform so everyone could see us. I saw friends, family and others among the crowd. Augustus was playing with his son, Julius, and Alesia, who was pregnant with another baby. The other leaders now had their own families and kids and others were just hanging out and laughing. I got up and everyone stopped talking and listened.
"Today my friends we celebrate the end of a long, hard and terrible war!" I said with my glass of wine in my hand. "We have all come a long way from where this began. I would not have changed it though. I have fought, grieved and been by your side's since the beginning. We have formed a brotherhood that of which cannot be broken.
Yes, we have lost many. Some of you had died and come back to life. Sadly I cannot bring back those who were lost and didn't return. But they smile down upon us as we celebrate in their honor and let them know it wasn't in vain!
We have endured and defeated the greatest hardships and threats to humanity that has ever been! I am proud of each and every one of you for that! I would have rather have been on the front lines with you like I was fighting for our futures than to have sat by and died doing nothing.
Our enemy was ruthless and showed no remorse. Still, even in impossible odds we prevailed. This is the strength of humanity's love, courage and devotion to protect each other.
We've all changed. A great weight has been lifted off our shoulders. Leading you and knowing I was the one who had the most responsibility for protecting you made it so the weight of the world and humanity was on mine. But the storm has passed. We can all focus on a brighter tomorrow and our futures. But no one will ever forget what we did here today.
So now my friends I want to make a toast. To brotherhood, humanity and the end of the Titan War." I raised my glass. "First to brotherhood." I said and took a sip.
"To brotherhood!" Everyone yelled and took a sip as well.
"To humanity!" I yelled and took another sip.
"To humanity!" They all yelled and did the same.
"To the end of the Titan War!" I said and took a sip.
"To the end of the Titan War!" They repeated and sipped.
"I have two more. To family !" I yelled and sipped. They did the same. "Finally to a bright future!" I said and finished off my wine and they did the same.
I sat back down and talked to the others. We all went down as the music began to play. We all did karaoke like we did years ago for ThanksGiving, we danced and partied with everyone else. We added a new song to our karaoke though. Blood Brothers by Luke Bryan.
