Azariah's pov
I'm not entirely sure what I thought this day would bring, but seeing Adler standing just inside the doorway to our meeting room, face redder than a fire truck was definitely not it.
"Let me get this straight," I slowly say, "You performed a strip search on them?"
"Yes Beta Lyk," He answers.
"And then you decided the female might be able to hide something between her breasts, so you asked to look?" I try keeping my voice even, and not letting out the laughter that was dangerously close to spilling over.
"No, I did not ask to look. I was going to call for a female to come to do it, but Jess took it upon herself to take off her bra," He's hardly able to say the word 'bra', which makes Micah snort.
"Um, okay. You do realize how inappropriate it is to suggest such a thing, don't you?" I question him.
"He was just doing his job," Jace defends him.
"How is asking to see inside a female's bra, doing his job?" Amber asks. Her tone indicates she does not find any of this funny.
"Well, she..." Jace gets cut off by an annoyed Amber.
"Let Adler answer please."
"She could have been hiding a syringe in there, just waiting to get past the guards to use it." He lifts his head and looks Amber straight in the eye as he says this. He doesn't do this in defiance, but to show her he owns his actions and isn't sorry for doing his best to keep us safe.
Amber just nods her head, as if in agreement, then looks over at me. I guess she's leaving it in my hands how to proceed.
"First, good job on even thinking to search them and the car. Second, I appreciate you taking all of our safety into consideration. However," I stall for a moment, trying to figure out how to nicely tell him how not to cross any more lines.
"Leave the boob inspecting to Alpha Micah or Beta Azariah, okay?" Jace says, then starts chuckling when Amber and Micah both shoot him dirty looks.
"I will have no part in doing any such thing," Micah stammers out.
"Alright," I say loudly, "We can figure out who does that particular job later, right now, just send them in so we can get this over with."
When Adler leaves the room to go get Clayton and Jess, we all let out the laughter we'd been holding in.
"Oh shit! What I wouldn't have given to see the look on his face when she shook them all about," Micah declares.
"Honestly, she sounds like my kind of people," I tell them. I haven't even met her yet, but I can already tell we're going to hit it off.
Adler brings them both in and instructs them to sit at the table opposite of myself and Jace. Micah was at the head of the table, and Amber was directly to his left.
My father comes in behind them and sits at the opposite end of Micah. He was nice enough to babysit these two while Adler came in to explain the situation to us. He was afraid what happened would get taken out of context, and wanted us to hear from his mouth what took place.
