Port Royal No POV

Two Redcoats and an officer brought Will to Beckett's office.

Officer: Lord Beckett, the prisoner as ordered, sir.

Beckett; those won't be necessary.

The officer let Will off his cuffs as everyone but Beckett and Will left as he served him a drink.

Beckett; The East India Trading Company has need of your services. <offers him a glass>

Will:<doesn't take it>

Beckett:<puts it down> we wish for you to act as our agent in a business transaction with our mutual friends the Sparrow Twins.

Will: more acquaintances. How do you know them?

Beckett: we've had dealings in the past. <holds a brander with a 'P' on it> and we've each left our mark on the other. <puts the brander down>

Will: what mark did they leave on you?

Beckett:<softly brushed the spot near his heart before looking at Will> by your efforts, Jack and Wade Sparrow were set free. I would like you to go to them and recover a certain property in Jack's possession.<drinks his glass of alcohol>

Will: recover. At the point of a sword?

Beckett: bargain. <sets his cup down, walks to a mini chest and takes out a letter wrapped in leather> Letters of marque. You will offer what amounts to a full pardon. The Twins will be free, privateers in the employ of England.

Will: somehow I doubt Jack and Wade will consider employment the same as being free.

Beckett: freedom.<puts the letter back in the chest and walks to the balcony> the Sparrow Twins are a dying breed. The world is shrinking, the blank edges of the map filled in. The Twins must find their place in the New World or perish. Not unlike you, Mr Turner. You and your fiancée face the hangman's noose.

Will: so you get the Twins and the Black Pearl.

Beckett: the Black Pearl?

Will: the property you want they possess.

Beckett; a ship? Hardly. The item in question is considerably smaller and far more valuable, something Jack keeps on his person at all times. A compass? Ah, you know it. Bring back that compass or there's no deal. <goes inside>

Will; what about the pocket watch?

Beckett: pocket watch?

Will; Wade's skeleton pocket watch.

Beckett: you don't know anything about that pocket watch do you? Of course you wouldn't, it's not a story heard even by the most knowledgeable of explorers and pirates.

Beckett:<goes to a bookshelf> there is a myth of a Goddess and the Pocket Watch. <grabs a book> The man was a fierce devoted follower of the Goddess, never lost faith in her, never questioned her existence. He turned out to be the Goddess's preferred mortal, then one day she was betrayed and all actions point to the man. Enraged, she killed him but the real betrayer was discovered. Executed. The Goddess feeling guilty revived the man but death followed the man everywhere waiting to claim his soul. The Goddess feared on this and gifted the man a pocket watch: The Pocket Watch of Eternal Life.

Beckett flipped the book to a certain page and gave it to Will and saw that the pocket watch drawn in the page was Wade's pocket watch.

Beckett; the pocket watch granted the man an immortal life. Other pirates wanted to be immortal as well and tried to take it but he fought, when he won he thought he was invincible so he boasted that he was a God. The Goddess took away the pocket watch from him and Death claimed his soul. His final words were for the Goddess to not forgive him but to find someone worthy of the Pocket Watch, someone that will never betray her or get drunk in power. And since then, many have gone in search of the Pocket Watch either unsuccessful or never returned. That Pocket Watch is cursed Mr Turner. Separate that Pocket Watch from him and Wade Sparrow will be no more. I prefer to take it away when he is in front of me.
