"What are you doing?" I asked when I felt her tugging my shirt from behind, hovering closer to me.

"Isn't it obvious? Hiding behind you!" she harshly whispered.

"Why didn't you just stay inside?" I asked, stepping forward to put distance between us.

"Tch. I want to watch," she scoffed, crossing her arms over her chest. "And besides, you're here, so... I'm protected. Since your scent is stronger, she can barely smell me."

Curiosity filled me.

"What do you mean... scent?" Confusion overwhelmed me.

"Yup! Every time she turns into her monster, her eyes also change to blazing red, which makes her blind because all she can see is anger and revenge... but she uses her other senses instead. Look," she pointed at the field covered with smoke. "You can see nothing, but for her, every man inside is clearer than calm water."

Now, I'm getting to know more about her... monster.

"How can I help her? Can I... save her from her monster?" I asked, looking at the vast smoke.

"Hhmm... no. It's too late; with her capability, it can't be helped. Claire and the monster inside her are intertwined; they can never be separated," she stated.

After hearing that, I lost hope... I can't save my girl.

"But." My face lit up.

"What is it?" I asked.

"Unless... she forgets the past. She might be saved." My heart began to beat fast.

Forgetting the past means... forgetting me. No, I can't lose her again.

I faced her. "Any other way?" hoping there is one.

When I saw her shaking her head, I looked down in defeat. Suddenly, I felt a drop of water fall on my arm. I looked up... it was already starting to rain. I looked at the field to see the smoke slowly fading.

I suddenly stiffened the moment I saw the girl of my life... with eyes blazing like fire, looking at me.

She's not wearing her mask; it seems like it fell off during the fight with the enemies. But what scared me the most is a bunch of men lying on the ground... lifeless.

She started walking in my direction, her blazing eyes locked with mine, but I... I was frozen in my spot.

At a distance in front of her was a man who seemed to awaken as he lifted his arm, looking at my girl while trembling in fear.

But Claire saw him; she raised her silencer gun and pointed it at the man. When she got closer, she shot him straight in the head, wearing no emotion at all.

My heart kept beating louder in my chest, feeling mixed emotions that I couldn't even explain. I'm not used to this.

She looked at me once again as she continued walking.

"Seems like I have something to do. Good luck!" Zoey patted my shoulder and ran, disappearing from my sight.

"Fucking shit," I murmured, cursing under my breath.

Why am I scared? No matter what and who she is... she's still the girl I love. The girl who completed this broken man.

The girl I'm going to spend my remaining life with; I don't care if I die as long as I'm with her.

This girl... this monster... they are one, and she is the girl of my life. I didn't realize that fear had disappeared and my heart was covered with love instead as she got closer.

I smiled, taking a step closer to her. "My monster," I said, looking into her blazing eyes.

She cupped my cheek. "This monster has fallen... for you." Her voice was cold, but I could still feel the love residing in it.

She leaned forward until our lips met. I closed my eyes and responded to her kiss. Then I held her waist, closing the small distance between us. The kiss was rough yet passionate; I couldn't even explain it, as we both felt the love we had for each other.

She is my monster... who has saved me many times from death, and I could feel the bond that deeply connects us.

I... I can't deny the fact that I have also fallen in love with her... monster.

She parted from the kiss and looked at me; this time, her eyes had turned brown. I smiled once again. "I love you."

"I love you too." And she smiled, warming my heart with love.

The rain and blood splattered around are witnesses to our love. Love that will always connect us 'til death do us part.

I may not know the trials that await us, but I love this girl, and I will fight for her even if death is against me.
