Harry's POV

The two Jacksons were going to be teaching the school how to use melee weapons. I took a long look at Ariana. God, she is hot, I thought (Hey, that rhymed) She was carrying a stack of boxes full of blades into the room. we were training during potions time, so Gryffindors were stuck with Slytherins. Malfoy strutted up to her

"Need some help?" He purred

"Nope!" She kicked him in the groin. every boy in the room winced, Nico and Severus, who were concealed by shadows in the corner laughed, only the other demi-gods heard thanks to their godly hearing.

"Okay! everyone find themselves a bit of room! we're going to be using shape blades today, so make sure you are at least arm's length from the nearest person!" Percy shouted. As soon as Malfoy got his hand on a blade he swung at me. Ariana's blade met his

"We are temporary teachers, you know. twenty points from Slytherin." she turned away. how did she get here so fast?

"Girls and boys on separate sides of the room, please!" Percy shouted. he had seen a couple making out in the back corner. I stood on the left side of the room. Percy walked up to us

"We're beginning with basic repetition." He pulled out his own blade and showed us how to do a proper defensive stance. "I want you all to practice going from blades down" he showed us "To defensive stance fifty times." he turned his back and conferred with Ariana. I strained my ears to hear their conversation

"There isn't enough time between now and the attack to train them all properly" He whispered

"Then we have to make the most of our time, little brother"

"You're older by two minutes." He grumbled

"But I'm still older." Ariana turned around and got snarky with Pansy Parkinson. "Pansy, I heard that! twenty push-ups!"

Ariana and Percy were good drill sergeants. they kept everyone on their toes. if someone was caught slacking, they got sentenced to death by push-ups. after the fifty defense stances, we moved to actual fighting moves in partners. one person stood in defense, and the other tried to attack. after twenty-five of those, we swapped. The next class was arriving, so we put our swords in the boxes.

"Blimey, that class was hard!" Ron moaned

"Watching Malfoy get kicked was funny though" I added. we chuckled. Hermione caught up with us

"I have so many questions about Ariana!" she pulled open a big book "I was wondering why Ariana can stay underwater without a breathing charm. I was the last one to go under that day on the lake, if she did cast one, I didn't see. I asked Fred and he had no idea either. then Percy said something about their heritage, and Ariana can run on raindrops."

"Ariana can run on the rain!?" Ron cut in

"Yes! so, Percy noted something about the giant squid and Ariana being generally better with all of their heritage stuff, so I did some digging in the library, and have come to the conclusion that Ariana and Percy are descended from a Mer-person." She sounded smug

"One question. how did a Mer-person have a kid with a human?" I asked "and how does it explain her freaky storm powers?"

"That's the only part I haven't figured out yet" she finished "I plan to ask her tonight"

"If she subconsciously tried to kill you, is asking more questions the answer?" Ron asked, "Remember the bedroom storm?"

"yeah, but I just have to know!" She skipped away.

"Her curiosity might kill her," Ron said

  Hermione's POV

I had the perfect plan. I just hoped Ariana didn't mortally wound me before I could finish my question. I probably would only have the time frame for one question, so I had to choose perfectly. I was going to ask "how are you able to manipulate the rain into platforms and breath underwater?" It was a wide umbrella, but a good question nonetheless. I just have to wait for her to come back from the lake. my best guess was that she was mourning with Pauly.

Ariana stumbled in after dinner, cut up in various places and half of her hair was shorn off.

"Ariana! you should go to Madame Pomfrey!" I said, looking at the cut on her lip and the deep gash above her brow. she touched it

"Nah." she picked up her water glass from the bedside table and threw it onto her face. I gasped as I watched the wounds close up beneath the fluid

"You look like you just saw a ghost," she remarked

"Y-You just healed yourself. with a single cup of water." I stammered

"Yeah. Oh, I know you have some questions about my heritage and water powers and stuff. I need to talk to Dumbledore about something, ask me in the morning. also, the yule ball is tomorrow. got a date?" She stood in the doorway

"Yeah. Krum" I said

"Good for you. managed to outcompete the other girls?" she leaned in the doorframe

"I was the only one not chasing him or Percy." I touched my hair

"Good for you" she left. I let out a sputtered sigh. How did she know?
