3rd POV

When the riders returned, Valka was happy. when she saw the wounded dragon, she rushed to its side.

"We found two sub-species of Night Fury. we named them Gold, Seastorm, and Seashell. Seashell is the wounded one." Hiccup pulled a poultice out of a cupboard and brought it to where Valka was looking at Seashell. Gold and Seastorm moved forward. she gasped. They were beautiful, and they walked awkwardly like they didn't know how. The flickering torchlight made it hard to see, but the smell of blood was unmistakable. Gold and Seastorm rubbed up against each other.

"Gold and Seastorm are mates," Valka noted as they curled up to sleep beside each other. she finished binding all of Seashell's wounds. "And Seashell will probably sleep for a while" Fishlegs seems infuriated

"Who, just who would hurt such beautiful dragons?"

Percy's POV

I was nudged awake. We had been here for two days, learning to fly and swooping for fish. Ariana slept the whole time. I opened my eyes and saw Ariana's dragon form in front of mine, bandaged.

"Ariana." I growled, "Can you let me sleep?"

"No." She grinned

"You're hurt. go back to sleep" I moan. Fishlegs walks into the stables. and sees Ariana, who turns, whapping my snout with her tail.

"Seashell?" he whispers. Ariana limps over to him and smells the pot in his hands, then sneezes. I pull myself up and stretch my wings over my head. He gasps again. I make my way to Ariana and tap her head with my tail, then she kicks me. "I didn't know you two were awake." he runs a hand down Ariana's back, and she moves with him, circling then moving back to where she lay down and yawning, closes her eyes.

Fishleg's POV

I had come into the dragon stables to hopefully, sketch the new Furies. Seashell was rubbing against Seastorm, who yawned and shook out his massive wings. the rising daylight let me see them clearly for the first time. Seastorm had a black head that faded out to a sea green that gently rippled. Gold had a golden head that faded to sparkling silver, and Seashell had a blue head that faded to purple. they all practically glowed in the sunlight

"Hey, why are you here?" Astrid called from behind me, then she spotted them shimmering. Gold pulled her neck up, and she let out a small chirp, then batted Seastorm over the head with her tail. He reared his head, licked Gold, then slumped down to sleep. Seashell was stretching on the ground, rolling gleefully in the dirt. Gold picked herself up, batted Seastorm again, and walked over to Seashell, who stopped rolling long enough to flick dirt into Gold's eyes, scurry away to Astrid and start rubbing against her.

"I came to sketch the new Furies" I mumbled. she laughed

"Can take Fishlegs away from the dragons, but you can't take the dragons out of Fishlegs." she walked up to Stormfly's stall and pulled it open to take her for a fly. I pulled out my pens and a sheet of paper, then sat down and started drawing Seashell, who was the only still one, curled gently on the floor.

I had finished drawing Seashell when Hiccup came in and saw me silently sketching, and we agreed to walk up to Seashell and see how her cuts were doing. Gold, who looked at us in particular interest, used her tail to flick Seashell awake, let out a low humming sound, then bounded off back to Seastorm to wake him up too. Seashell reared her head, then walked up to us and sat down at my feet, looking at me with her bright amethyst eyes as I unwound some of the bandages that ran across her back, looking at the almost completely healed cuts. she licked the one I had revealed, and it slowly closed before my eyes, scales shifting to cover it.

"Wow. how did she do that?" Hiccup had noticed too. I unwound the rest, and she continued to lick and re-cover her wounds before standing up and running out of the cave doors, opening her lilac wings and letting the wind do her work, lifting her with the updraft from the cliffs before she glided gently into the cave again and ran up to Valka.

"She healed herself. she shifted her scales to cover the cuts" Hiccup said

"Amazing! and she's built like she's a water dragon!" Valka ran her hands across Seashell's face, then pressed the joint to release the second set of back spines, and she leaped around in pure delight, then flung Valka onto her back, and ran out the door and jumped into the sea without opening her wings until the last moment, gliding softly until they dipped into the water.
