Ariana's POV

Annabeth had told us we were the bait. Percy hated this, but at least we knew that we would be released in time to help. He paced in the cage, muzzled to complete the captured look. Thalassa was unpleased about my "capture" but had agreed. Her help, or at least, her using me as a channel, would complete the plan, then, I would return home, where I would accept Thalassa's position as goddess of the coral reefs, and ascend to Olympus if I completed my trial. The council had decided that Snotlout would "Betray" the Berkians, he looked like a man who wanted only the best for himself, standing outside our cage. Percy, who was supposed to attack the bars in outrage, wanted to do so very much. no need to fake that feeling. I sensed his presence nearby. Time to start the act. A swirl of seawater revealed him. Wow, compared to Poseidon, this guy was ugly. I want to throw up just describing him, so I won't.

"My gift? oh, how lovely. I wanted to have my servants capture them, but how easy it was to have you deliver them in return for safety" he ran his pudgy fingers over the bars. he stunk of rotting seaweed and moldy salt. Percy growled and shot his claws against the bars. I did too.

"Yes, Lord Aegir" Snotlout sounded more pompous than he looked. "They were easy to capture. just had to tell the foolish riders I wanted to see their power for my own eyes. chaining the wings turned into a problem, as they morph when touching the water. I resigned to chaining them downward" He smirked, saying the lines Annabeth thought of.

"And I suppose you expect a reward? Hmm?" Aegir said

"Only protection from your upcoming dominance of the world." Snotlout made a bow. He was sucking up perfectly. I clawed the bars again. "And I do believe I have another gift for you" A Viking walked out of the shrubbery leading Annabeth on a chain. Not part of the plan. Percy gets even more violent, trying his hardest to release himself from the chains, and actually succeeding. Another Viking came over and reinforced them. Annabeth let out an enraged snarl

"Stop! Percy! Stop! This is part of the plan!" Percy keeps up with the anger to keep a ruse until he fakes being exhausted.

"A violent one! but I am more interested in you, Pretty girl" He runs his sausage fingers beneath my chin "You are more powerful. He is just icing on the cake"

"My lord, are you pleased?" Snotlout asked.

"Oh yes, very pleased" With his words, The Viking who was reinforcing Percy's chains removed them, and I was released alongside Annabeth. The fighters of Berk emerged from the trees

"Treachery! Who has paid you more? Dagur?" Snotlout snarled. Aegir tried to travel away, but I exerted my control over water and refused to let it do his bidding. It was a battle of will as it was a battle of strength. Annabeth had thought of many possibilities of outcomes, and if it came to the one we were enacting now, Nico and Will were supposed to protect me as I pushed my willpower into Aegirs. Nico blasted a water tendril that made its way to me as a horde of angry Vikings overcame the god. Percy used his own power to dry out Aegir, who was having trouble fighting my will and the Vikings at the same time. Toothless and Hiccup shot plasma at him to keep the god from moving too much.

"Enough!" He bellowed. The resulting wave of power blasted the Vikings around him away, and he turned to me "You are just what I need, little dragon. Give up." He pushed his will into mine, making me crumble a tiny bit. He pushed harder "GIVE. UP" he roared

"I. AM. ARIANA. HOSTESS. OF. THALASSA. CLOSER. OF. THE. HELLGATE. I. REFUSE. TO. FAIL!" My human voice returned, and the Vikings immediately turned their backs or closed their eyes. I turned to pure energy.

"My darling, you succeeded much faster than I anticipated. I am relieved of my duties. Thank you"  Thalassa turned into a pink vapor and drifted into me. "I can now rest. Go back to your friends."

I returned to my body, the shocked looks on everyone's faces were priceless. Standing beside me was my dragon form. We were separate. Oh, the relief. Percy was already wrapped around Annabeth, their arms encasing each other in a tangle of limbs. Will and Nico must have been shell-shocked because they stood beside their dragon form completely still. Hiccup spoke, breaking the silence

"Who are you?" He asked

"I am Ariana. I maintained a connection in this world through Seashell here" I sat down, and Seashell came up to me. I held her head "Thank you." I whispered, kissing her forehead. Percy's draconic form was cuddling Annabeth's, her golden scales shimmering in the sun. Nico and Will were sitting down, their humans now standing by a separate Percabeth. I stood up again.

"You were inside Seashell?" someone asked

"Yes and no. My mind was inside Seahshell's. My physical form was not. I was a captive of Aegir's before Annabeth's mother sent me here. As for what Annabeth said when she was a dragon, all of us who inhabited a dragon are children of the gods" I walked to Hiccup and held his shoulder "May you be blessed with calm seas, my friend, your help has no price any god could afford" A slight glow was shed off my body, and all the demigods and I dissolved into mist.

"Heros," Athena said

"Lady Athena." All of us but Annabeth bowed

"You have done well. All of you." She said. "The Vikings proved to be a valuable ally, as I thought. I will send you home" Percy stood up

"Lady Athena, may I ask you a question?" when Athena nodded, Percy whispered something in her ear.

"Yes, Perseus, you can." She waved her hand, and we were back at camp half-blood. Home.
