17 year old Xavier Lorenzo

All my life I had it easy, I was sent to the finest private school where all upper class children attended. Since my father was well known in the little town I was raised in(and the rest of the world), everyone praised me and I became the spotlight along with my best friends.
I happened to be a star student aswell; good grades, well-mannered, quick witted.
I'd be lying if I said I never gotten into public fights however I never intend on starting them, anything I do my father knew.

That all changed last year when my cousin, who is also one of my closest friend, Ajax found a dead spot which we brought to life. We called it the ring, it was an ancient race track without any records of use. One day we flipped it into our little cove where we was in control and now it's the illegal hotspot for all the youngsters and troublemakers.

Most boys would say they'd want to be like their father when they grow up however I never had a choice. My father ruled the most dominant mafia ever known to man and he expects me to take over one day. I could never go against James Lorenzo's order, but my mother, she was the only person who could change his mind.

She was the light in his darkness, the only person who really understood him and his ways. Lucia Marie Lorenzo was always optimistic and jovial. She cared so much for other and loved so damn hard. I guess I was more of a mother's boy than fathers.

But that all changed a few months after I became 17.

Mother was diagnosed with cancer and refused to try chemotherapy because she didnt want to 'suffer just for a few more days.' Of course Dad agreed to her decision.

I'd spend every free second I had with her, after school I would visit her in the hospital and most nights fall asleep on the couch near her. Even knowing her time was almost up, she was still positive and didn't want me hurting.

I tried hiding it but truth is I wasn't ready to lose her. She was my backbone, holding me up whenever I felt like giving up. While my father was firm on me, Ma was like my wild spirit showing me there was no limit in dreaming.

She made me promise her I'd follow my dreams and make her proud but some promises aren't meant to be kept. Hence why I'm standing on the edge of the hospital roof.

A 10 story high building, below was the busy city of Spain. Cold air brushes on my pale face. Dry tears patched on my skin and bulging eyes burning from the wind.

Tonight was the night my mother left the surface of this earth and I was planning to go with her. "I'm coming Ma" I whisper closing my eyes. I imagine her opening her arms waiting for me to run in them like I used to when I was little.
She had a huge smile on her face, one that was real. I hadn't seen her this happy since she caught cancer.

"WAIT." A squeaky voice bellowed. I halt and turn to see who that voice belonged to.

A young girl with curly brown hair runs towards me and grabs my hand. Pulling me away from the edge, she releases a huge breath and glares at me.

"Are you crazy!? This bulding is ten floors high, you'll splatter all over the ground like a cracked egg." She says still looking at me.

I didn't feel like talking to anyone but her presence felt somewhat angelic, as if a part of my mother was seen in her.

I observed her a bit more; hazel brown eyes, a dimple on her right cheek whenever she spoke and her petite body was wrapped in a white cloak.

I read the name on her badge, Blair Hughes, it suits her. "What are you doing here?" She asked, looking at the empty roof.

"Could ask you the same thing." I retaliated. There's something about her I can't fixate but she felt familiar. She also seemed a hell of a lot young to be a doctor.
