The Villain Kids

That night, the four new villain kids were hanging out in the boy's dorm room. Carlos is playing a virtual reality game, while Evie lays on his bed flipping through a magazine she found lying in her room. Jay is looking through several tiny items and a few larger ones, all of which he had stolen during the afternoon.

"Jay, what on earth are you doing?" Mal asks him as she walks over to look at everything. Mal is frustrated with the other three kids because she seems to be the only one that cares about the mission they were sent to do.

"It's called stealing." Jay tells her, like that wasn't obvious. She had meant why is he doing it.

"Ok, but what's the point?" She asks, with a slightly sarcastic look, and tilts her head in confusion. Evie looks up at them both before going back to her magazine. Evie, personally, is beyond thrilled to be in Auradon. She's always dreamed of being here, and now that she is, she doesn't really want to do anything to jeopardize that. Especially when the alternative is going back to her mother, who constantly talks down on her about how her appearance is never good enough. She didn't tell the others any of this, however, because they weren't supposed to have feelings either.

"Well, Mal, it's like buying whatever I want, only for free." Jay explains to his purple haired friend. Jay is so used to being forced to steal that he does it on instinct. It hasn't kicked in yet that he no longer has to do that, but in fear of angering his father, he continues. He can still hear his father yelling at him to pick up new things to sell, and if a lamp is seen then it becomes number one priority. If Jay doesn't get any lamps, or collect enough items throughout the day, then his father throws a large outrage and will yell at Jay, telling him he hates him more than Aladdin, the man defeated him in the end.

"Ok. You could do that, or you could just leave it all here now, and just pick it up when we take over the world." Mal scolds him. Mal wasn't sure she wanted to take over the world herself, but the fear of her mother's wrath was too great. All her life, Mal has been reminded that she isn't evil enough, and never will be. Her mother is constantly complaining that her daughter will never be as great as her, and it hurts Mal every time. To have her mother constantly say she isn't enough, and that she will never amount to anything in her miserable life. Mal just wants to finally have her mother say she's proud, even if deep down she knows it will never happen.

"You sound just like your mother." Evie tells her. Mal takes it as a compliment, but Evie didn't exactly mean it that way. She doesn't want her best friend to turn into her mother and is afraid she can't do anything to stop it.

"Look, you have your way and I have mine." Jay says to Mal before walking over to the 3D printer, trying to figure out what the machine does. Evie smiles, and Mal groans in frustration. Mal seems to be the only one trying to impress their parents anymore, and she doesn't get why they aren't.

"Die, you sucker! Die! Jay, come check out this game!" Carlos calls out to his best friend. Carlos is in the same situation as Evie. He doesn't actually want to go back. Not when the only thing waiting for him is serving his mother on hand and foot. Literally, she uses him as a footrest. He doesn't want to wash her several fur coats every day or scrub the bottom of her nasty feet anymore. He wants to live a life doing something he actually wants to do instead of something he's forced to do. He doesn't want to listen to the nagging and complaining when he doesn't get anything right. He wants to stay in Auradon, but won't voice it in fear the others would laugh at him.

"Guys!" Mal shouts, getting their attention. Well, Evie's attention because the boys are too into the game they are playing. "Do I have to remind you guys why we are all here in the first place?" Mal snaps at them. Evie frowns and stares at her magazine. In the end, her mother's blinding anger is worse than her verbal abuse, so Evie knew she would do whatever it took to make the woman happy.
