Later that night, Evie calls me telling me to get to the kitchen. Apparently, Mal wants to break the love spell she has on my brother. I mean, I'm glad she wants to stop having a fake relationship, but how does this help get the wand? The coronation is next week, and I would like to have her standing next to me. Plus, I rather like her and Ben together. They balance each other out and bring out the best in each other. I've seen the way Mal looks at him, and I know that she's in love with my brother. She's in love with him, but she can't live with the relationship knowing that his affection for her is fake.
I walk into the kitchen and see Evie standing with Mal, who looks like she's about to break into pieces. Mal looks up at me and the damn bursts. Her legs give out as she crumbles to the floor sobbing. Evie grabs her and holds her, and I grab her hands, squeezing them tight. I've never seen Mal break, and I never want to see her break again. This is heart wrenching, and it makes me start crying too.
"I can't you guys. I can't take over the world knowing he will still be forced to love me after I shatter him. I can't be that cruel. I don't want to be cruel to him." She sobs as I nod my head. I stand up and look at the spell, quickly catching on to where she left off.
"Then you don't have to be. Mal, you don't have to be evil to him if you don't want to. Evie, you help her put her pieces back together. I'll make the muffins for you so you can focus on mending your heart." Evie nods at me and holds Mal as she sobs her heart out.
"A million thoughts, in my head. Should I let my heart keep listening. If only I knew what my heart was telling me." Mal sings as she clings to Evie. I bite my lip to keep from crying myself. She needs me to be strong. I can't break when she needs to be put back together. I mix ingredient after ingredient, soon coming to the final one. Picking up the mixing bowl, I bring it over to Mal.
"One last thing, big sis." My voice wavers and I can feel the tears start to roll down my cheeks. Mal laughs a little at the nickname, her smile wobbling. She reaches up and wipes one of her tears off her face before bringing it to the bowl and mixing it in. We all smile at each other, and I turn to the muffin tray, putting the dough in it. I stick the muffins in the oven and walk over to the fridge. I open the freezer and put ice cream into three bowls before bringing them over to the girls.
"I figure you guys could use something sweet right now, so here. Chocolate ice cream. It's my favorite, but don't eat it too fast or you'll get a brain freeze." The girls chuckle as we all three sit on the floor eating our ice cream. We talk about everything we can think of, ranging from favorite song to our favorite food to our favorite book. We talk about spots around Auradon that we love to see, and we tease each other about our most embarrassing moments.
I tell them about the secret anchor tattoo I have the lower right side of my back, and they lose it. They want details and to know that obvious story behind it. I tell them about the costume party my parents had thrown for my tenth birthday and how everyone dressed up as princesses, princes, and fairies. I told them how I came down the stairs in full pirate gear, sword and all, and how everyone pointed and whispered at me. How my parents were appalled, and how the only person to stand up for me had been my brother. He'd grabbed a guard's sword and challenged me to a sword fight even though we had absolutely no idea what we were doing.
When I was old enough, I went and got the tattoo done. That was last year on my birthday. Ben had taken me to get it, and when he seen it, he'd burst out laughing at the memory. The girls laugh and tell me it looks amazing when I turn around to show them.
Soon, the muffins were done and sealed up in a bag. Mal plans to give them to him at the coronation, that way he wouldn't be forced to love her like she loves him. On the way back to the dorm rooms, I ask the girls if they want to spend the night in my room. They happily agree, not wanting to be alone for the night. We build a large blanket fort on my bed with the curtains that hang from it and start watching random movies. Mal literally spells up popcorn, which has to be my favorite spell by far. It isn't too long that we are all passed out asleep, popcorn and candy wrappers strewn around us.
