Mal holds her hand out to her father, silently asking and begging him to give it to her. He almost does, but then he taps her hand before walking away. He's afraid that the small stone won't work for her because she's too much like her mother, and he doesn't want her to be disappointed. If the Ember won't work for her, then she'll lose her world like he did.

Hades turns to his record player, putting on some music before turning to his daughter. Mal looks around the Lair as lights start to move and light the small place up.

"Listen little girl,
you're talking to a God,
and I don't want to hear the drama.
Kindness ain't my brand."

"Oh, I guess that's why you ran." Mal says to him as she watches her father move around his Lair.

"Try being married to you mama." Hades sings to her, and Mal throws her hands up as she walks away. She lived with her mother, so Hades didn't even know the half of it.

"You stink at being a dad." Mal sings to him as Hades follows her.

"Poor, Mali, are you sad?" Hades sings to his daughter.

"Not as sad as you without your powers." Mal sings back, spinning around to point at him tauntingly. "I didn't come to fight. For once do something right!"

"I steal souls. Were you expecting flowers?" Hades tosses a scarf at Mal, who tosses it to the ground.

"I only came here cause I need something from you."

"I've given you everything!" Hades sings to her.

"By giving you nothing!!" They both sing at each other.

"I did what I had to do." Hades sings to Mal, Ceila joining in the background a little.

"No, you only did what's best for you." Mal sings at her father.

"Well, you could learn a thing or two." Hades sings, getting in his daughter's face. "When push comes to shove, you do what you gotta do!! Yeah!" Hades jumps and sits down in his chair as Mal walks away from him.

"You were never there!" Mal sings as she turns around and leans down on the arm of his chair, getting in his face. "I guess you don't have a phone. You never called to say, 'I miss you'."

"Are you kidding? Is this a joke?" Hades says, getting in her face. "You need to let it go. You're stronger with those daddy issues!" Hades gets out of his chair, and Mal leans back.

"Oh, thank you!" Mal sings, throwing her hands up.

"Show me some respect!" Hades sings into a mic he had grabbed. "It ain't easy to neglect! My attention would have made you softer."

"Oh, should I be proud?" Mal sings Hades puts the mic in her face, but she shoves it away. "Don't turn this thing around."

"I guess you are your father's daughter." Hades sings to Mal.

"Don't think that I need you. I just came here for something." Mal sings, pointing at her father.

"I've given you everything," Hades sings back at her, grabbing her hand and spinning her into him.

"By giving you nothing!!" They both sing at each other.

"I did what I had to do!" Mal sings at him. "I made it on my own no thanks to you!"

"Well, you could learn a thing or two." Hades sings, grabbing his daughter and spinning her into the chair, making her sit in it. "When push comes to shove, you do what you gotta do!"

Hades spins to kneel next to the chair, singing to his daughter, "How 'bout I go with you, and we'll spend some time?"

"How 'bout you stay here cause you're out of your mind." Mal sings back, waving her hands in his direction.

"Let's make some new memories, you can show me the town." Hades sings, waving his arms out.

"No, you can keep your memories now!" Mal sings and Hades gets in her face.

"Get over it." Hades tells her.

"I am over it." Mal snaps back at him.

"I'm over you being over it." They tell each other.

"Let's dance!" Hades sings to Mal before he starts to dance around his Lair. Mal rolls her eyes and leans against a wooden beam, refusing to dance with her father.

"I did what I had to do!" Mal and Hades chase each other around the Lair as they sing. "No, you only did what's best for you!" Hades jogs up the stairs of his Lair, and Mal follows him. "Well, you could learn a thing or two."

"When push comes to shove, you do...when push comes to shove, you do...When push comes to shove, you do what you gotta do!"

Mal turns to look at her dad, holding out her hand as Hades glances down at her.

"You want to make up for being a lousy dad? Give me the Ember." Mal tells him, waving her fingers as she does. Even though Mal says that she wants nothing to do with her father, that's not true. She's angry at him for never being there when all she wanted was a dad. Somewhere safe to go from her mother.

"The Ember won't work for you." Hades tells her, waving his finger at her as he holds his Ember in the air. Mal rolls her eyes impatiently, huffing at Hades.

"No. It'll work for me. We're blood." Mal tells him. The Ember only works for the bloodline of its owner, but Hades shakes his head. Mal is only half his bloodline mixed with mortal blood, so yes, the Ember will work for her, but not as powerful as it would for a full god or goddess with his bloodline.

"You're only half Hades, Mal." Hades hands the Ember to her, praying against all hope that the Ember does do what she wants it to. "It won't do everything for you that it does for me." Hades warns her.

"I'll take my chances." Mal rolls her eyes before she walks away. She doesn't fully understand what her father means, but she's not going to let Audrey destroy Auradon, so she has no other choice.

"Don't get it wet or it's game over!" Hades warns her again, watching her leave. If the Ember got wet, Mal wouldn't be able to revive it on her own because of only being half Hades. She'd have to have more power than she's got in herself, and last Hades checked, no one really has power inside themselves in Auradon.

"Yeah, I got it." Mal says as her and Celia leave the Lair, making their way back through the tunnels. Mal looks at the Ember in her hands, wondering if he really did give it to her to try to make up for it.

"I guess that explains why he's always asking about you." Celia says. She'd always wondered why Hades seemed to have such a focus on Mal, but now that she knows that Hades is her father, she understands. Mal's quick to gasp and stop the young girl from walking further.

"Hey, wait." Celia looks up at the teen, her head tilted. "Evie and Rose are the only people who know that he is my father." Celia nods her head in understanding since most of the villain kids only have on parent. "As far as I know, he doesn't exist."

"I got it. Not a word about it." Celia says, and the girls leave the Lair. "Now, time to go get help from the one person on the Isle that wants to see you dead."
