Chapter 16: Apple Hearts

At Evie's with The Girls

The girls quickly make it back to Evie's castle, and Uma whistles at how big it is as they walk through the door. Immediately, the group find Dizzy and the twins curled up against each other of the couch asleep in the living room. Celia puts a blanket over them, so they don't get cold while the older kids save the kingdom.

"Do you guys hear that?" Uma asks, and the other girls listen in to hear snoring coming from a different room. Evie, curious as to who could be in her design room, walks over with the other girls following behind.

"Doug?" Evie gasps when she makes it to her design room and sees him fast asleep on one of her tables that hold her fabrics. Evie runs over and grabs his shoulders, shaking him to try to get him to wake up. "Doug, wake up."

"She's not a fast learner, is she?" Uma asks Mal as she stares at Evie in disbelief. How can the girl be this oblivious to the fact that there's only one way to wake a person up from the sleeping curse.

"Give her a break. She's emotionally involved." Mal tells Uma, looking at her best friend with sympathy. Uma looks at Mal, wondering where the hell that same sympathy is for Rose. Mal had never showed Rose that same level of love or respect, and Uma can't understand why. "Well, then she should be able to wake him up."

Everyone turns to look at Uma in confusion, and Uma looks at both of them with a look of disbelief. How the hell have they lived in Auradon this long and not figured it out? The answer is literally in their parent's stories.

"True Love's Kiss." Uma tells them slowly as if she's talking to a child. Mal scowls at Uma while Evie sighs and looks down at Doug. Though both love each other, they've never actually said the word to one another. They've been too scared that the other doesn't feel the same way.

"Don't freak out, it's okay.
Cause true love can save the day.
And I think we feel the same,
But I don't know."

Evie sings as she dances around her design studio, afraid to kiss Doug and not have it work because he doesn't feel the same way she does. 

"When we met, it was sweet.
He was oh so into me.
Seems like things are meant to be,
But I don't know."

Mal is smiling in the doorway as how sweet and cute it is, but Uma keeps motioning with her hand for Evie to hurry up.

"Does he love me?
Or does he love me not?
Do I love?
And is it strong enough?"

"One kiss."

"One kiss."

"It all comes down to this.
One kiss, one kiss."

"Oh, one kiss."

Mal and Uma join in the song, hoping that it will make her speed the process up. They need her to wake him up so they can go look out for the boys, Rose, and Harry.

"This moment could be it.
I, I, I wanna know,
So here I go."

"Go."

Evie goes to kiss Doug, but chickens out causing the girls to groan and sigh.

"Keep it cool, keep it calm.
Think he's loved me all along,
But maybe I've got it all wrong.
So, I don't know."

"Hey."

"He's so good, got my back,
But maybe I'm just too bad.
Could we be a perfect match?
Now, I don't know."

Evie spins and dances around the room, looking at Doug lovingly. Mal and Uma step into the room to try to get Evie to hurry up.
