Gretha pov

Garen stepped into the room, with all of that has been going on lately I hadnt asked what adayas answer was. "Come, sit. Would you like a drink friend?"

"Yes, please. is there a reason you asked me in here?"

He sat in a chair as I poured a cup of gin, I handed him the drink and took a seat at my desk. "I wanted to ask what Adayas family name was, it was postponed with all that has happened since I sent you."

He looked in no specific direction. "I beileive she said it was Thalan, though

I cannot say for certain, there has been so much time passed."

"hm well I spose I will have to speak with her anyway, thank you. how have you been feeling since the event?"

"Truthfully I cannot even tell anything happened except for the scar left behind. That woman, she was skilled in battle but why did she poison you when she could have just ran you through as well?"

"I do not know, my guess would be that she was instructed to kill me with the poison, though it could just be that she was scared." I gave Garen a wink. He laughed.

"Now we both know I could beat you easily, no matter how skilled you are."

I laughed with him, this was true in the close quarters I am fairly vulnerable, if the person is skilled in battle that is. "Well it's been nice catching up with you but I think Adaya and the others should be getting close now. Lets get some men together and go meet them.

Adaya pov

We were almost to the fort when we met Gretha, Garen, Duncan, and a small escort of other men. I could tell some of the people were a little hesitant once we met up with them, but they were more scared of the order of majora who was now hunting them so they came along anyway. I was now walking next to the wagon loaded with belongings, Gretha and Duncan rode beside me on their horses.

"lady Adaya, might I speak with you a moment?" Gretha dismounted his horse and walked beside me holding the reigns.

"Well we have more than enough time. what would you like to talk about?"

"Your name. Or more specifically your family name."

"I dont know a lot but, What would you like to know?"

"Is it truly Thalan?"

"yes."

"Tell me what you do know of it."

"Like I said, not a lot. My father was the protector of our caravans, my mother was the book keeper, my brother was the master hunter, and me and my sister were to be book keepers as well. Other than that I know that my family was a major part of some big war a long time ago, and my great grandfather was some kind of hero, umm I think my uncle from my mother's side started his own caravans. That's the extent of my knowledge."

"If you knew your uncle led another caravan why did you not go to him after yours was destroyed?"

"My uncle left on bad terms, I have no idea where he is, besides when my caravans were destroyed I was eleven years old, I would've died searching for him. Then where would my sister be?"

"Well, in my younger years wood elves had powers which were tied to a price of land, each family had a different part they were tied to."

"Yes I read about that, though I have never seen a wood elf with magic, except Laila, but she studied it. It's no more than a myth in my mind."

Gretha took a deep breath and was about to say something when we were interrupted by a bunch of chatter as we broke through the brush into the clearing showing the fort. Some cheered while others just gazed on, probably wondering if they will be able to sit still in one place.

Garen pov

"Before we reach the fort I need to ask you something." I looked to Laila, we had been talking the whole way Here I just had not found how to ask about the necklace.

"what is it?"

I pulled the necklace from my sack and held it to her. "I got this a while back. Do you think the Lady Adaya would like it?"

She took the necklace and studied it. "this is an heirloom from one of royal families, I cannot say which one however, the books were lost to that part of our history."

"Well at least part of the vendors ramblings were true."

"what do you mean by that?"

"oh the man I bought it from said it's from some house I can't remember, and that it will boost that families powers."

" He almost had it right. That amulet is a safeguard, if a person from that family has no one to teach them about the powers they have, it will grant a basic understanding, this way if the family dies and only one is left it, or if a generation is skipped on the abilities, they can still learn to control their powers."

"Well that seems helpful."

"I'm sure it is, you should give it to her, who knows, maybe she from the right family......and has strong ties to the earth."

We ended the convorsation there, we were in the fort now and she needed to help the people adjust to their surroundings.

I moved to help everyone unpack, tomorrow I will give her the amulet.
