Annoyed, I walk towards Rin sitting down and waiting for the bell to ring for recess.
"Hey, can I borrow your deodorant? Forgot mine."
She snickers, "You really forgot the most important thing, huh?"
"Don't be like that."
She pulls her bag closer and tosses me the can, "Here. Now you are just going to have to sit there with a headache all day till you eventually get used to it because this shit is a lot stronger than you'd think."
Using it on myself I ask her, "One of the struggles?"
"You'd be surprised how the products drastically shift in both smell and potency. But at least you are not going to reek of sweat but you are going to be smelling like you just slept with me."
I hand it back to her, "Anything is better than sweat."
"Hm mhm."
"Besides everyone and their dad knows that the two of us are best friends so it wouldn't be that surprising if I ended up smelling like you."
She arches her eyebrow and watches me with a little smile. "Just friends?"
"I mean-"
"Hmmm?"
I drop my two bags to the ground and sit down on the steps next to her, "According to you we are dating."
"According to me?" she snorts. She lifts herself leaning forward on her knees, "Don't you like me? After everything... how is it fair that you treat me like this?"
I glance at her, "I've been meaning to ask about it."
"Oh?"
"I mean there are people here that do like you."
"Are you telling me because you think I am stupid?" She instantly lifts her hand to stop me. "Don't answer that. I have been actively making it super obvious that I am not really interested in a point where I tell them no."
"But you aren't telling them about the two of us?"
"Are you?" she counters.
"I mean, I don't know if I do that and you end up telling something else and I look the idiot."
She shakes her head at me, "If you called me your girlfriend then that means we are making a lot more progress and I should give you a lot more credit but instead we are having this conversation because you can't decide it for yourself."
"Uhm."
"Do I need to make it more obvious?"
"No, it's fine."
"So? Are you going to tell me where the two of us are at?"
"We are dating."
"Hundred percent sure this time?"
"Not if you are going to be an ass about it."
I shake my head with a slight smile and she leans back into her back, "Good boy. Hard enough to convince you to do anything and it looks like you finally got there all by yourself at the end of the day."
"Then..."
"Then?"
I cock my head to the side, "We don't really do relationship things."
"Well, that is because you are an incel and I treading water trying to get you to get used to this whole idea without either of us freaking out and suddenly becoming sexist."
I furrow my brow at her, "Where is this incel label coming from?"
"From knowing you most of your life."
"I hate you."
"See?" she smiles at me, then leaning over she slings her arm around my shoulder pulling me closer for what I can assume to be a hug, "Just do what you think is natural and want to do and I tell you that when it is a no-no or I am fine with it."
She adds with a chuckle, "Just don't take forever to make a decision, okay?"
"Yeah."
Not a moment later Alexi, the girl with a hundred personas walks up to us with the one she uses with pretty much everyone. She lifts her hand greeting us with a wave and her plastered smile.
"Hey, you two."
"Hey."
"Hi," I greet her, she looks at me and narrows her gaze slightly at me before sitting down next to Rin.
"The perks of running the entire thing to get to the showers before someone else holds you up. Then again I keep on forgetting that (Y/N) isn't a total shut-in."
"You'd be surprised."
She looks at me, "Ah so is it like that?"
"Like what?" I ask.
She pushes out her lips as if trying to think of the words, then shakes her head as she breathes out, "Don't worry I won't tell a soul about the two of you doing what best friends shouldn't."
Rin snorts, "What is that, Alexi?"
"I wonder~"
I roll my eyes, "What do you want Alexi?"
She glances back at me, "I don't know. Friendship? All my friends are either still getting dressed, cleaned up, or they are still walking the entire thing because why do any amount of effort when you can just put in nothing."
"We aren't friends."
"But I am your girlfriend's friend. That means you have to be nice to me."
Rin interjects, "I really don't care if you two hate each other."
"Shush, Rin," Alexi then glances at Rin, "Wonder what is going to happen if the whole school figures out that you two are dating."
Rin answers, "They will probably call us gay."
"A small sacrifice," I chime in.
"Or they might actually see this little shut-in in a new light."
"Doubt that," Rin adds.
I point at her, "I am on the same page as her."
Rin leans forward, "I mean, they can say or do whatever they want but it isn't really going to change anything. If there are some of the guys that thought it would be easier to get me to lie down for them because I would let the boys tap just so that they can get lucky before they turn thirty; that was never going to happen."
Alexi points at me, "All but one of them."
"There are a lot of things in the middle of that, but sure, he can have me."
Alexi lifts herself, "Hear that, (Y/N)? Practically begging for you to make a move already," then slinging her bag over her shoulder the bell rings, it is as if she memorised the times in her head.
Rin then breathes out with a sigh, "Come on."
"Sure."
We lift ourselves and go take our bags to the next class. There is nothing I can do at school because that would just violate every rule of PDA that the school has and I don't want to be put on the watchlist making it harder to just be around the only person I want to talk to at school.
