Sam sits down beside me with a lollipop in her mouth. "What's got you looking like a sad betrayed little puppy?"
She follows my gaze to see Rin chatting with Cameron.
"Not sad or betrayed."
I glance at her to see her watch me between her blonde locks waving in front of her eyes. She has that look that tells you that she can see right through you and me lying about not being a little bit of a piss-baby.
"Rin has applied for somewhere quite far from here," I say as it is. "I don't know if this was recent or before it all but it looks like she got accepted and right now weighing all her options and I'd have loved to know it beforehand."
Sam chuckles, "What? You wanted to stay with her forever?"
I pull my gaze away from her. "Is it really that sad?"
"Who said it was sad?"
"I am conditioned to think that it is Sad to rely on someone emotionally." I lean back into my seat. "Call me pathetic for having an emotional investment in someone and being a bit annoyed about... yeah." I don't repeat myself.
"Hmm, you do like to put yourself down before anyone else can. That's an intense psychological tactic," she pats my shoulder, "so I am going to do exactly what you want from me and tell you that you aren't stupid for being upset, but you shouldn't be clinging onto someone who can barely find herself."
I snap back just as quickly, "But naturally I have to let her cling to me."
"Absolutely. YOU made that decision. SHE didn't. Now after you weighed in all the reasons have you considered that she kept it to herself because she had no real intention to pursue it just yet? Or maybe she had hoped to make plans with you about it? Or maybe she is still lost?"
I chuckle to myself, "That's a hell of a way to tell me to pick a time, Sam."
"We all get sick of it, (Y/N). Trust me. But if you are going to be the shoulders that others cry you should make peace with the fact that they don't have the spine capable of dealing with your problems."
"Don't have to tell me that. I'm not that stupid."
"Just upset."
"Just upset," I repeat her words.
She smiles at me. "Next time if you sit around like this you have to let me know if you want to complain or if you want guidance. Afraid that I come with both sometimes but that's just the package deal that people have to deal with."
"Then what's your advice, Grand Seer Sam?"
"Suck it up," she twists her lips with a shrug. "You two are adults and perfectly capable of talking to each other. The Golden Rule to every single relationship is being able to talk to each other and if that fails then there is always something wrong."
Guess she has a point, at least Rin bothered to tell me in the first place.
"What about you and Cameron?" I ask her.
"Nothing there worth pursuing," she says as she looks at the two of them. "Or at least he told me that and said we could chill together if needed. Though funnily enough I think he's trying to get over his own crush."
"Who?"
"Want to take a jab at it?"
"Rather not."
"Better to keep it in the dark," she breathes out. "He's a good guy and I doubt he'll be causing you any problems as long as you don't start giving him a reason to be the better boyfriend. Hell maybe those two had plans but because of you it kinda faded away and he's come here to her back on course?"
