You walked toward the kitchen carefully, you didn't want to hurt your leg more than it already was... You opened the fridge and took two eggs out—Scrambled eggs were the best recipe when you're lazy, that's for a fact. Looking over the counter, you found a plate of food, covered with a thin napkin, probably last night's dinner you didn't get to eat.
You hold you hair back, and started heating up the pan. Lazy stomps where heard over the stairs, a big yawn also indicated that your brother was coming down, finally.
"Good morning! Breakfast is almost ready." You yelled as your brother, Alex, walked towards the counter. "Scrambled eggs? I don't want that today!" He nagged.
"Not my problem, you eat or you don't, simple." You said as you placed his plate on the table.
"Mom would have made me pancakes..." He reproached. "Can't you do that?"
"Ay, calla!" You yelled,"Mom is not here, and I already made breakfast, so you eat it or you starve, understood?!"
He sighed, sat down and started eating. You reheated the leftovers from last night and started eating, too. "Why are you eating that?" Your brother asked,"Eat your food." You replied.
"When are we going to start school?" He asked, again. He's eight, is normal that he makes a lot of questions and things but...It gets annoying sometimes—and by sometimes, is most of the time. "Next week, be prepared." You mumbled, having a bite of your food.
He sighed, and started playing with his fork spinning it with his fingers. "Can you do this?" He bragged.
"Can you shut up?" You said, rolling your eyes, "Eat before I take your plate and you don't eat anything today". With that said, you stood up the table and put your plate on the sink. "Remember, when you're finished, leave your plate here."
You looked at the fridge to see a paper sticked to it, it read:"Do the chores while I'm gone". It had mom's handwriting, she was the only one who worries so much about the chores in this house... You sighed, it's true that there isn't a lot to do in the house, but this wasn't exactly what you were expecting to do in your free time... Anyways, you knew if you didn't do them, you would regret it a lot.
"Hey," Alex asked, just before you went upstairs, "Who's the guy you brought yesterday?"
You could feel your heart skipping a beat, then almost immediately feeling like it would rip out of your chest. "What guy?" You asked, not turning around.
"I've heard him last night" He said, his eyes felt like daggers to your back. "I told mom about it."
"So you were the one who told her?!" You snapped, turning around in disbelief.
"So it's true you brought a guy yesterday." He nagged. He was annoying, but smart—Always top of his class, good hearing, too. As said, annoying.
"Who would I bring home if we don't know nobody?" You said in return, "Heck, we don't even go out!"
"Maybe you are visiting the neighbors?"
"That is way to far apart from here. There is no way I could walk out there without being caught!"
"Whatever," He rolled his eyes to get up from the table and look at you directly, making severe eye contact. "Just say hi from me, I guess."
