A few days after:

Y/n's pov:

There was a lot to do as always. You were stressed to the point where you didn't sleep a single hour through the night. The only thing that kept you from going insane was the little playtime you had with Dami. Every other night you slept with her and enjoyed every single minute. After you both were satisfied you waited until she fell asleep and then sneaked out of the room just to go back to work. You currently worked on finding Dami's brother and all the information you gathered led to a tiny town high up in the mountains.

"Maybe we should take a look at it." You thought and closed the file.

You needed to show it to Dami later but she was currently on guard duty. After some hesitation you texted her to come to your office once her shift was over.

"Even though I can't be with her, I found a way to keep her close, if it is just for a few hours." You mumbled and rubbed your eyes.

They were burning from all the paperwork and you decided to take a nap on the couch. You lay down on your side and faced the wall. Your eyes were heavy and you soon drifted off into a deep slumber.  Of course, the dream didn't let you be. It was a different version but still, it made you panic as you felt the stream of water drag you deeper into the dark void. You tried to swim but your limbs just couldn't help you escape this endless vortex.

"No." You thought and your lungs screamed for air as you are helplessly tired to swim.

"Y/n." You suddenly heard a voice.

"Help me." You pleaded.

"Wake up." The voice said and a painful sting spread in your left cheek.

The pain made you wake up immediately and you shot up from your position. You scanned the room. It was already dark outside so you couldn't see much just the person kneeling next to you.

"Is everything alright?" The concerned-filled words of Dami reached your ears.

She cupped your cheek with one hand as you looked confused at her. Her eyes were pitch black due to the lack of light. You cleared your throat.

"Yeah, it was just a dream." You replied and brushed her hand away.

The assassin stood up and took a few steps back.

"You wanted to see me." She said as you tried to figure out what happened.

You decided to pretend like nothing happened and stood up.

"Light." You demanded and placed yourself behind your desk.

A little earlier:

Dami's pov:

Today the guard duty was boring. She was scheduled to keep an eye on the harbor so she sat on the roof of the main building where she had a good look over everything.

"Alpha to Point Delta, is everything in order?" The tiny radio in her hand cracked.

"Point delta to Alpha, nothing out of the ordinary," Dami replied.

After that, it was quiet again. Only the sound of the waves could be heard. The weather got colder and summer was officially over. A few minutes passed and Dami enjoyed the silence until her phone buzzed. She pulled it out from her jacket and looked at the message.

Harpy: Come to my office after your shift.

A small smile formed on Dami's lips and she wondered what Y/n wanted.

"Maybe just sex." Dami sighed.

Don't get her wrong she liked every minute she spent with Y/n but she still wanted it to be more than just sex. Deep in her heart, she wanted so much more but her mind told her to not attach more feelings for the underboss since she would be gone soon. That didn't mean she wouldn't take any opportunity to be with Y/n.
