Y/n's pov:

You watched Dami swim up and down the large pool. She glided smoothly through the water. The way she moved looked beautiful and you wondered why she loved to be in the water so much. For you it still represented death. You sat down on a nearby bench and massaged your aching neck. The lack of sleep dragged on your body. You closed your eyes and tried to forget that you already should be on the way to the docks.

"Are you not bored?" Dami asked and you looked at her.

She had placed her arms on the edge of the pool and laid her chin on them. She looked cute while the water dripped down from her nose.

"I should've brought a book." You chuckled.

"Or maybe you should go back to your room and try to rest a little. You look exhausted." Dami pointed out.

"No, I want to spend time with you." You admitted. "Before I have to leave you again." You added in your mind.

"Aha, then you should sit down here and let your feet dangle into the water to relax a little." She smiled at you and patted the spot beside her at the edge of the pool.

For a moment your blood ran cold. The thought of being so close to deep water frightened you.

"Don't worry. I will be right here. Nothing can happen." Dami said softly.

She must've noticed the fear in your eyes. At first, you wanted to deny but the sweet smile she gave you boosted your confidence. With shaking hands, you took off your shoes and socks. You were barely able to cuff up your pants but at last, you succeeded. A little hesitant you walked over to your girlfriend while you could hear your heartbeat in your ears. Fear tightened your chest but you forced yourself to sit down and let your feet slip in the warm water. Your body immediately froze and you clenched your jaw while you closed your eyes. Every cell screamed that you should stand up and run away but Dami's soft touch was able to calm you down.

"It's okay. You are safe. I will make sure that nothing can happen." She said while she let her hand pat your knee.

"You must think I'm a coward." You said while you forced your voice to sound steady but you failed.

"That's wrong. Everyone is scared of something." Dami replied softly and you felt her hands caressing your legs.

"And what are you afraid of?" You wanted to know and opened your eyes.

"I think you know the answer to that question." She mumbled.

Of course, you did. She never told you but you could see it in her eyes. Her fear was to lose you.

"I'm sorry about earlier. I was harsh toward you and I probably overreacted. I'm just scared that someone could catch us." You apologized.

"I know and I understand your concern." Dami smiled.

"I have to protect you." You stated.

"I'm an assassin. I can protect myself." Your girlfriend replied.

"Not from my boss. She will eat you alive." You warned her.

"No, not as long as you are at my side." Dami positioned herself between your legs and used her hands to push herself out of the water.

She came dangerously close but you didn't move away.

"I hope I can kiss you this time because I'm longing for those lips the whole day." She husked and her warm breath tickled your skin.

You leaned a little down and placed a few small kisses on her lips. Water dripped down from her hair and created wet stains on your clothes but you didn't care when she grabbed your cheek with one hand. Her face was still close and you were about to say it when she suddenly moved away from you and let herself glide into the water.
