Back in his office, after the call, Kaden couldn't believe how he had missed it.

They were more than sisters; they were twins.

Stunned, he eased back in his chair. He had taken the wrong twin, removed the passport from the top drawer, and flicked it open, studying it. There were differences in the features, Ronnie was much sharper. Ellie's softer, rounder, not identical twins yet close enough from a distance. Seeing them together, he saw bigger ones. Ronnie was taller, Ellie curvier and had a gentler nature.

Yes, he understood Ellie protecting her sister.

His first reaction had been unreasonable, yet he had felt like someone had kicked him in the guts by not telling him the truth, that he had the wrong sister. And explained all those inconsistencies. That was unrealistic.

He reached for his profile on the sister. That he had just done the other day, when she stirred up interest, and there it was, a degree in mythology, her thesis on Norse.

A part of him was glad he hadn't known or he would've never seen the real Elnora. She hadn't wanted to be Ronnie, didn't even try, shining through and he had reacted to her, not Ronnie.

The last thing he'd wanted.

Relieved, yet also had its problems.

Also explained Thor and, if not mistaken, had a crush on him.

He can't believe he felt threatened by a mythical god.

How did he come back from this? placing his face in his hands, elbow on the table, rake over his face and through his hair as his head dropped. How could he get it so wrong? It was right in front of him this entire time. Her behaviour hadn't fit Ronnie's profile.

And he had fought his attraction to her because he thought she was involved with his brother. Then again, it changed nothing, did it? She was exactly what she came across as innocent.

Knowing her tender heart, she would forgive his actions. That he didn't deserve. As for the real Ronnie, she was exactly what he expected, self-optioned, forceful and tough as nails.

What he didn't like was the way Ellie went inside herself, around her sister, falling into her shadow.

Had she done that all her life?

He had thought twins were supposed to be inseparable.

Going back to her room through the hidden door, as she had never left, Ellie found Ronnie in her room, arms crossed, foot tapping, eyes fiery. Not good.

"Where the hell have you been?!" Ellie greeted with.

"Chilling. There are other rooms here."

"And it's driving me insane! How do you handle it? I need to get out of here!"

"As in what? We can't leave here, however, there's a pool." Ronnie's eyes lit up. "You have bathers," Ellie added, not mentioning she had used them, rinsed, dried and placed them back, hoping not stretched.

Bathers she didn't have.

Something Ronnie hadn't packed for her, and why would she? While Ronnie was in the pool, she could read, keeping her sister out of trouble, sensing Kaden was far from impressed and vice-versa.

How did she get back from this?

Rules and regulations wouldn't stop Ronnie when she had a bee in her bonnet.

While Ronnie was getting ready, Ellie headed out towards the library, leaving through the proper exit, taking back what she had read, and replaced with new reading material, something more fun with folk tales, something to sink her teeth into.
