Masoud guided Ronnie off towards the side while the area was being secured. There was no one to be found, asking questions about what happened. Clasping her arms, her shoulders sank. This was her fault and her secret. It wasn't meant to hurt her family, more like protect them and him. That can't change, glancing at the man at her side. "How are you involved in all this?"

"I never saw something like this happening. I should have. He asked me to be a scapegoat, as I did him."

"Explains the engagement commit. Why would your brother do any of this?"

"Do what? He didn't take you down here and locked you away. There is something more sinister than whatever my brother did. He's always protected us, his family and with the wedding coming up, with rumours of me with you, I gather. Of course, he would take you out of the equation until the wedding."

"Why would you want to use me in that way? Rumours of an affair? What about your bride? That's not nice, Masoud."

"Yes, so I have heard from your sister, more vicious than you," he noted, amused, rubbing his chest.

Ronnie's eyes widened. "She didn't."

Lately, Ellie had been more forward in her actions and voiced her thoughts. And the way she acted around Kaden, Ronnie had never seen before, always whispering together, and her eyes lit up when he entered the room, seeing he was going to break her heart, not sure Ellie would recover this time.

Look what happened last time, and who she became, a recluse that's not good for anyone. "I have to take her home," she looked up with concern. "She doesn't belong here. Where did he go? Is she in danger?"

"Whatever is going down, she will be protected, and Kaden will protect her with his life. As for my bride, she knew exactly what was going on, and we had our reasons for not killing off the rumours."

"How did that even happen? We met briefly for what, a passing moment."

"I think someone wanted to cause mischief."

Ronnie eyed him with interest. "What kind of mischief?"

"I think you are looking at it."

"And he brought my sister into this mess," she mumbled under her breath.

"I think you will find, because of your sister, we're in this mess."

"We got to go now!" Ali barked, tapping his earpiece. Without thought, the women both tossed on the burqa and tugged on the headpiece, hiding their faces apart from the eyes. They had added a veil to hide Ellie's eye colouring, and followed Ali out, leaving everything behind.

There was no time.

Silent as possible, they headed out into the corridor, Ali whispered garden.

Ellie wasn't so sure about that. Where can they go from there? Yet it was a large enough area to have hidden doors. She hoped so, or they would be trapped and hunted down like innocent black bunnies.

Kaden wouldn't put her in that position, nor her sister, no matter how they clashed. He wasn't like that and he had gone with his men to find and rescue her sister. Had he found her? Desperate for answers but by Ali's stern, determined expression, now wasn't the time to ask.

They just made it to the stair entrance when they heard footsteps.

Ali practically shoved her through the door entry, rushing down the stairs, heart pounding, as a rush of adrenaline surged through her veins. Ali was behind her, urging her on taking hold of her arm, as they raced down the stairs. There were shouts of voices from above. There were unseen by the enclosure of the staircase.
