Frustrated, Ronnie raked a hand through her hair. She couldn't believe how calm and suppliant Ellie was, which would be for her peace of mind, yet it didn't feel right. Nope, she wasn't happy about it. No matter what story he had spun, he still kidnapped and drugged Ellie.

That would explain why she had been unsteady on her feet, taken advantage of in the situation, her heart sinking. It could have been her, holding her arms, looking around the magnificent room of palatal grandeur, even if a library.

Had Ellie been so bedazzled by her surroundings, she had forgotten what happened to her?

Anything could've happened to her.

Forced into a situation beyond her control.

Sold off to some sex trader.

And what, she's at home, reading books, eating pastries. Having dinner at his table as if she was a guest. It had horrified her how Ellie had reacted towards Kaden's attention and reached out for his hand that came so naturally.

Something she never did. Ever since high school after Ryan, she had stayed mainly to herself. The double dates were a disaster, mostly because she didn't say boo, was far too reserved, and never joined in. So got ignored. Seeing her mistake, Ronnie stopped inviting Ellie, since she seemed happier at home with Gran and her cats.

Now she was here in a foreign country, stolen and treating it like a holiday.

The way she interacted and talked with Kaden, Ronnie had never seen that before.

Can Ellie not see she was being played? As if he cared for her, a nobody. Not that she was, but in his world, whoever he was, she would be. It was time to find out what this is really about. Why did he want to kidnap her? Not Ellie.

That made little sense. A wedding? Not hers. His brother's? She didn't know any Sheikhs/ Princes. She didn't know who he was. A sent email she had thought had been sent from Ellie. Not by her reaction when she first arrived. So he must have sent it, with an open ticket to Dubai, with instructions to put everything in place for their Gran for a week.

That should've been a warning.

Why hadn't she seen that? Because all she wanted was to get her sister back.

Seeing her sister so safe and looking at home had completely thrown her. Acting differently than her normal self, didn't help. Not that she wanted her scared and cowered down, but this wasn't normal either.

What, some sheikh decided Ellie would make a suitable bride?

All because that damn dress had disguised the true person Ellie was, glad to see the plait back, yet had been wearing caftans, the evidence in the wardrobe until she had arrived here with her old clothes.

Ellie needed to get back to reality.

What she wore to the dinner wasn't her normal attire.

Maybe it was time for him to meet the real Ronnie, who didn't take bullshit from anyone, and would regret that he dared to interfere with her family and their lives, although had to keep her temper in check as she did at work.

Had to take her emotions out of it, which won't be easy since he pressed all her wrong buttons. Not sure what bugged her about him, his cool and collected attitude, his control. The way he looked at you, unwavering, left one feeling exposed.

Thankfully, her assistant had kept everything going, on top of things, keeping in contact by email, since she was supposed to be away on business, all organised by him.

Couldn't even stay at her apartment. Thankfully, she had backup staying in a privately owned penthouse where she could work, also see to her Gran's needs. Be on top of everything while her private investigators tried to track down her missing sister.
