I sat on a park bench near a wide, blue lake. I watched the wind make ripples in the water. It was calming.
What am I supposed to do? I thought to myself. Anubis is addicted to murder. Should I turn him in? Would that do any good? What about Lavender? I don't make enough money to support her medical bills.
I threw a rock into the lake, frustrated.
Do I tell someone about what Anubis does? It's not like there's a Murderers Anonymous group or anything. Maybe time in prison would help him? I wouldn't just be turning him in, I'd be turning all of his clients in as well.
I took out my phone and dialed the non-emergency line.
I could adopt Lavender and get another job, I thought as the phone rang. Would Anubis ever forgive me?
"This is the non-emergency line, how can I help you?" A woman's voice asked.
I hung up the phone.
