Chapter nine
Training that can kill

Jane woke slowly, opening her eyes to the dim light coming through the window. She reached to rub her eyes and found she was not in her own bed, or room for that matter. Jane franticly got out of the covers and took a few moments to remember where she was. She stood on the checkered floor surrounded by boxes filled with her belongings. The bleach white walls, the blue windows, it all sank in till she realized were she was.

Jane sighed heavily. "The estate." And with that the memories of last night sprang back in to her mind the meeting, her new role as sir Hellsing, and Integra's soon death all coming back to her in a swift haze of frustration. She remembered coming back to the room by herself that night, but did not even noticing her things in boxes on the floor. Jane just fell in to the bed exhausted and slept in the cloths she wore.

Yet despite her interesting awakening, she walked in to the bathroom that was now stocked with towels, soap, lotion and shampoo. She did not Rembrandt any one placing the boxes in her room, or filling the bathroom with supplies. She knew there had to have been some one in the room with her that night, things do simply appear out of thin air with out the help of physical hands. Who ever it was however, Jane was grateful to them and decided to accept it and move on.
Jane looked at her self in the mirror, where on her skin dry tears lined her eyes looking like crystal scales. After rubbing them away Jane found a very tired looking girl in her reflection, it was expected but not a very pretty face to look at, so she looked away.
Jane noticed the scented soaps on the bath shelf, she picked one up lifting it to her nose to find a sent of sweet peaches and cream. It smelt so real that Jane was tempted to stick her tongue out and taste its sweet sugary goodness, regardless if it was soap or not.

Gratefully she picked up a towel, a bar of soap, started a hot bath, took off her cloth,  leaving her in nothing but her skin and slipped in to the steamy water as it filled the large tub.
Jane sunk down slowly into the water sighing deeply as each second past in the rich water, allowing every thought and headache to dissolve away. The water liberated her body, soothing its knots free with the sent of melting peach soap, creating lemonade pink bubbles along the rim of the porcelain tub, it was truly divine.
After Jane's bath she dressed her self in the cloths from her apartment and left the room, finding she was in the corridor again. But instead of moon light, fresh sun rays beamed in through the panels.

Jane walked down the hall catching the faint smell of toast, tea, eggs, jelly, and bacon. Her stomach growled dangerously, urging her nose to follow the heavenly smell. She made no attempt to resist her stomach, so walked her way to the mess hall.

As she marched, Jane passed a row of large paintings on the wall. Each one had the portrait of a previous Hellsing leader standing tall and strong next to a large black wolf. Jane noticed the same dog in every single painting going all the way too sir Integra,

The dog was onyx black, with huge curved paws, a fluffy long tail, a regal arched chest, slender legs, and piercing round red eyes.
Either there was a very old dog walking around the place, or very strict breeding standards for the Hellsing pets, for each dog looked exactly the same. Jane stared at Integra's painting seeing her younger unscarred face, determination and pride beaming from her. She had a sleek hand on top the dogs head as it sat at her side with a sort of unsettling smirk on its face.

Jane could have sworn the wolf was posing for the painting, but knew it was foolish, no dog would sit long enough for such a thing.
She would have stayed and thought longer about the paintings but was persuaded otherwise by the smell of food in the air, and her crying stomach. Her nose led her too a great dinning hall, not far from her room where a full gallery of people sat and ate.
