Chapter ten
The aftermath

Seras dragged Jane through the estate, while dodging hallways with anyone walking in them. Jane simply followed along behind, trusting Seras to guide her faithfully.
Integra's dried blood crusted on to her skin, pinching her flesh, causing Jane's arm pain, but She did not care; and only focused on her grief. Seras lead Jane down deep in to the estate, passing through a long red hallway only occupied by one mirror. She stopped in front of the mirror and pressed a small lever.
Jane glanced at Seras seeing her stop before this curious location, but was stunned when glass slid away to reveal a gaping black void, where a deep breath of darkness evaporated from the frames of the mirror; swirling around the two with invisible arms.

Jane felt the growing deepness flow around her, snagging on to a part in Jane's chest, wanting to pull her in and close. She stepped quickly away to the other side of the wall from fright.
That place was not safe, holy, or welcoming to her, she knew it, and dared not go down, even with Seras as her guide. Seras began to walk through the mirror passage, but stopped when Jane did not follow. She looked like hell standing there, her face was white, hands covered In dry blood, and thorn cuts along her body.

"Jane?" Seras said stepping out as Jane held her arms tightly, breathing in with shaky breaths. "Hey, It's alright." Seras comforted placing her hand on Jane's shoulder.

"Don't take me down there Seras, please, it doesn't feel right."

"I know, trust me I know it doesn't but we have to go down there. Mster wants to keep you safe, and down there is the safest place for you. I won't leave you, I promise." Jane peered again into the dark frame, a frigid chill tip toeing down her spine. "Come on take my hand." Seras offered her normal hand to Jane, and waited patiently for her to take it.

When Jane reached out and lightly accepted the generous offer, Seras smiled sweetly with her cruel mouth, and carefully lead Jane in to the dark frame.
Once they stepped through, Jane felt as if she had entered another world, one that she did not belong in, one that was not natural, normal, human.

"I have to shut the entrance Jane, it will be very dark, do you think you'll be ok?" Seras asked as Jane looked about her self in the dark passage, but held tightly to Seras's hand.

"I'll be fine." She whimpered.

"Alright." Seras pressed a hollow switch that snapped down to close the mirror door, the glass slid shut with a hard clank, sending a sharp echo in the darkness. Jane looked back to the entrance an found that she could see in to the hall way, but there was not enough light from there to be of any use to her.
Seras came in front of Jane and walked down the cavern like hall holding each other's hand tightly. Seras's vampiric hand, due to its ember like pulses, glowed red as they walked deeper in to darkness, giving Jane strange comfort and light, keeping her calm. With seras's arm Jane could see more of what was around her as they passed by a low, long, steep, stair case plummeting down in to a thick blackness.

"What's down there?" Jane asked, pointing to the stairs, feeling the temperate drop just by standing near it. Seras looked black and saw what Jane was looking at.

"That's where master sleeps." She said. "I don't think you want to go down there." Jane nodded but continued to stare at the descending steps. They looked fine themselves, but the darkness, chill, and straight drop down from any light gave them them a terrifying glare. If the stairs looked that terrible now, she could only imagine what the bottom floor looked like, where the No life king spent his time.

" I agree with you." Jane turned quickly away and allowed Seras to go on. "Sorry I asked."

A moment of walking passed,  Seras stopped in front of a very large iron door with a small sign was nailed to it that Jane could barley make out.
