>Warning, Self Harm<
Lizzie's face drained of all color and her mind started reeling.
Would she go after me? Does she actually even like me? How much money would change her mind? Should I take care of it for her? Her dads realized what was happening and quickly started to interject.
"Sweet pea, if she wanted to do something, she would have already." Her dad said this and his husband punched him and shook his head.
"Y-yeah. You're probably right. Is it ok if I eat in my room?" Her dads shared a look and her papa nodded. She left and they noticed she didn't take her plate.
She passed Ruffles in the hall on her way to the room and scooped him up. He meowed in protest but didn't struggle. She got to her room and locked the door. She went to her desk and opened a drawer. She pulled out the exacto knife she used for art and moved it to her wrist. She looked at the faint scars that were piling up and sighed. She moved the scalpel and made a long incision on her left wrist.
She flinched only slightly at the pain, but quickly turned her focus to the blood oozing from the wound. She watched as it beaded up then dripped down her arm. She was glad she could control at least one thing in her life.
She quickly opened another drawer and pulled out a bandage. She wrapped her wrist and cleaned the knife. She put everything away and went to put her pajamas on. It was still early but she didn't have the energy for much else. As she was undressing she noticed how thin she was getting. She could see her ribs jutting out of her torso and gave a small sigh. She put her pajamas on but it made her frown to see how much they hung from her form. Her once generous curves had slowly dissolved to nothing. She realized that if her dads ever noticed they would surely send her somewhere to try and help. In the deep, darker part of her mind, she knew that almost nothing could help her now.Emma woke up in the middle of the night to the sound of her parents coming home. She grunted and tried to fall back asleep.
When she couldn't she checked her phone. It said it was 2 in the morning and she had four hours until it was time for school. She groaned and started scrolling through TikTok, looking for something to get her to fall back asleep. But everything she watched made her think of Lizzie and how she was probably having a completely peaceful rest. She moved to her messaging app and opened Lizzie's contact.
I could see if Lizzie was awake. Emma shook her head. No. She is probably sleeping. I won't wake her up. But her boredom quickly got to her and she typed out a quick message.Lizzie
Emma : Hey. U up?
Yeah : Lizzie
Emma : How r u up?!
I couldn't sleep : Lizzie
U? : LizzieEmma : my parents woke me up.
Emma : want 2 call?Sure : Lizzie
Lizzie was smiling at the phone when it rang. She quickly she turned the volume down, as to not wake up her dads. A picture of a sleepy Emma greeted her and she almost laughed out loud. "You look awful."
Emma's nose crinkled and she replied, "And yet you somehow look like a movie star." Lizzie blushed and prayed it was too dark to see it. Unfortunately for Lizzie, the light from her phone was enough and Emma smiled at the effect she had on the shy girl.
"What did you need?"
Emma rolled her eyes. "Do I need an excuse to call you at 2 am?"
Lizzie gave her an unimpressed face and Emma smiled.
"You know, you are even hotter when you're irritated." Lizzie's face went red as all the blood in her body rushed to her face. She tried to cover her face with her free hand and it made Emma laugh to see Lizzie like that. They talked for hours before Lizzie heard her dads thumping around below her.
"Ok, I have one question before I hang up."
This piqued Emma's interest. "Shoot."
Lizzie frowned at her choice of words. "Did your mafia get hired to kill me?"
Emma's face paled. She stammered over her words before deciding to stay quiet.
"You did. Didn't you." She said this with such sad certainty that Emma's heart broke at hearing it. Lizzie nodded, taking her silence for something else. "Well, I'm not a hard target am I?" She gave a small sad smile and hung up. Emma's heart shattered. A single tear slipped from her eyes and she let it fall.
Once again, my parents ruin everything. She dissolved into sobs and regret. Why can't I just be normal. If I was normal, she would have Lizzie in her arms. Her sobs eventually quieted to small sniffles and she heard her mother yell through the floorboards for her to be quiet. She rolled her eyes and went to go take her morning shower.
She stepped into the warm water and let it run down her body while she went over their conversation. It was all fine until she brought up the one thing that would change things. She didn't feel like a warm shower was doing what she wanted so she turned it to ice cold. She shivered but welcomed it.Lizzie stared at the wall for a long while after hanging up.
Now fully believing she knew all that Emma wanted of her.
She went back to her desk and got her scalpel for the second time in less than 24 hours. She unwrapped her wrist and made another and another cut. She rewrapped her wrist again. She got dressed and washed her face, not having the energy for a full shower. She made her way downstairs and tried nibbling on a piece of toast but it made her nauseous to try so she threw it away and went to the car.Damn, younger me was dark wtf. Anyway, thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed!
