"Lizzie! Are you ok?" Papa asked. She nodded but didn't really know what she was nodding for. "Lets get you an ice pack. And maybe some pain killers." He helped her up and they walked to the kitchen. He sat her down on the counter.
"Remember when I used to help you like this when you were younger?"
Lizzie smiled. "Yeah." He got the ice pack and gave it to her. She pressed it against her eye and she winced at the cold.
"Feel better?" She nodded. He turned around and grabbed some chocolate. "Here. I read somewhere that it helps." He winked at her. "Just don't tell your dad." She laughed and took the chocolate. It was a creamy dark chocolate with a hint of mint in it. She smiled and ate a small section of it. She got down and switched hands on the ice pack.
"It will have a nasty bruise in the morning, sorry about that. If you have any makeup it would cover it up."
Lizzie sighed. "You know I don't have any." He shrugged and walked back into his workshop. She rolled her eyes and smiled. Dads are so clueless. When her dad got home she had already put the ice pack back.
She came down for dinner and he nearly had a panic attack. "What happened to my sweet pea?!" Her dad asked.
"Honey nothing too bad happened. A can of paint just fell on her." His face paled completely. He started to baby her and she backed away.
"Dad, I'm fine. It's just a bruise." She tried a reassuring smile, but even she could see how much it hurt. He looked like he wanted to argue more but dropped it.
"So who was that boy you were with today?" He asked with a smirk on his face.
"No. Don't even. Liam is not just a friend. Not even that! He insisted on carrying my books from the library." Her dads exchanged a look. "What was the look for?" she demanded.
Her papa chuckled. "Nothing honey." She noticed that they were both focusing on their food instead of her on purpose. She rolled her eyes and tried to eat her food but ended up eating barely anything and excusing herself.
Her dads exchanged a worried look. She had been eating less and less lately and it was starting to worry them. When she got to her room she closed the door and went to her bed.
"Ruffles, how do I tell them I don't need friends?" Her cat shifted slightly but ignored her. She sighed and rolled onto her back. She stroked Ruffles's back gently and he started to purr. She looked over to her desk and at her unfinished homework. She groaned. Her face hurt, she still had homework, AND she had two confusing people maybe trying to flirt with her. What was she going to do? She took a deep breath. She went over to her homework and started with that. Two hours later she finished her homework. She went downstairs and went to her dad.
"Dad, can I please have some tylenol?" He nodded and went to get some. Her dads kept all of the medication in their bathroom under lock and key.
He came back and gave her the pills. She thanked him and went to get a glass of water. She took the pills and threw back some water with them. When she finished she went back to her room and decided to go to sleep. She got her pajamas on and laid down on her bed. She fell asleep in minutes.Lizzie felt herself being pushed against a wall and looked up. Emma was standing above her, her arm next to her head pinning her to the wall.
"Oh Lizzie, you look so good pinned to a wall." Lizzie felt her cheeks warm so she turned her head and looked down. Emma lifted her chin with her free hand. "No you don't. I want to see those beautiful eyes." Lizzie's face grew even more red and she felt Emma shift closer. Emma leaned her head down, so close their noses could touch. She whispered into her ear, "What do you want Lizzie~?" Lizzie looked at her mouth and gulped.
"I want... I want..." She tried to look away but Emma's hand held firm. "You to kiss me..." she whispered. Emma smiled and started to lower her mouth.Lizzie sat up gasping for air. Lizzie looked around and sighed. It was just a dream. She looked at the time on her phone. It read 4am.
She groaned and settled back down. After 30 minutes of trying to fall asleep she decided to get ready for the day. She went to the bathroom and took a long shower, trying to waste time.
After she went to her room and got dressed in something she hoped would help her blend in. She put on an oversized cadmium green sweater and black leggings. She got a black beanie and put it on her head. She went downstairs and decided to make everyone breakfast. She made blueberry pancakes and bacon, slightly burnt, but hopefully still edible. By the time she had finished both of her dads were getting up.
When they came down the hall to the kitchen and saw breakfast already made they got suspicious.
"Why did you make us breakfast?" Her dad asked.
She shrugged. "I was up early so I just thought I would." She continued to eat her food as they stared skeptically at her. They served themselves and they ate in silence.
When it was time for school, the got in the car and her dad dropped her off a little early so she could draw.
"Bye dad. Love you." She ran off and sat down just inside the building. As people arrived she got strange looks from them.
She was drawing a cute couple watching a show on a phone. She was just finishing her drawing, about to get up to go to class when she was shoved back down.
One of the girls from the day before was standing above her.
"Hey lizard girl. What are you doing staring at my friend and his boyfriend like that?" she demanded.
Lizzie shook her head and tried to get up.
"Answer when I talk to you. I've heard you speak before so I know you can." The girl got a tap on the shoulder. She whipped around, her ponytail swishing behind her. Her face fell at whoever it was.
"Harlow, what are you doing to Lizzie?" Lizzie looked behind the girl and her fears were confirmed. Three feet away was Emma.
