Emma woke up in a dark room.
All she could see was a very large mirror in front of her. She could feel someone watching her but she didn't know from where.
She tried to look around but it was hard for two reasons : because it was dark and because she was tied up.
Once her eyes adjusted to the dim light she could make out the shape of a whole lot more chairs in the room.
Why are there so many chairs? She wondered to herself.
She had been trained on what to do if she was kidnapped. It wasn't a very fun experience considering her parents had actually kidnapped her.
She was only twelve then but had managed to escape. She found the ends of the rope and started to untie the knot.
It was a very complex and well tied one albeit, but she had it done it no time. She kept the ends in her hands, untied of course, because she knew someone was watching on the other side of the glass.
She didn't know when she figured it out but she knew the glass was one way. They could see her even if she couldn't see them.
She got the gag out of her mouth, not with her hands, and tried talking. "Whoever you are, let me go." Her parents taught her to always try negotiating first. The room remained silent all except the sound of her breathing. She didn't know if the person could hear her but she tried again. "I know you're there." She stared intently at the spot she guessed the face would be. Another trick her parents taught her. It unnerves the person on the other side of the glass. Making them think she can see them.
She looked all around the room. There was a single door any other person would have missed.
It was as dark as the room and was the same color as the walls. She didn't know if it was locked so she didn't want to take her chances. She waited until she heard the door unlock before starting to untangle the ropes around her body. She had them undone and had a makeshift weapon in hand when the door opened. There before her was both Liam and Lizzie.Lizzie was trying not to cry at the sight of Emma with a chair in her hands.
She knew she could hold her own but she knew Liam could too.
A single tear fell down her face and she swiped it off. Liam had forced her to watch Emma slowly wake up in her chair and struggle. She knew what was about to happen but wished she didn't. He had a taser and a knife in his pockets and he had plans for Emma.
But if Emma didn't cooperate, he was going to use her as persuasion. She was shaking and didn't try to hide it.
She was so scared for Emma. Liam was dangerous.Emma was trying to read Liam but he was a stoic as a statue.
All but for his smile. It was soft and cruel and disturbing. It made her skin crawl and she was trying to think of a way to get Lizzie without getting the two of them to hurt.
She knew Liam must have something dangerous on him or Lizzie would have come over already. She had the chair aimed and ready but something told her they weren't going to make it out easily.
She sized up Liam before deciding to throw the chair at him. He gasped and stumbled backwards. She lunged for Lizzie and grabbed onto her waist. She pulled her out of the room as fast as she could, for she would have been much faster without Lizzie.
They rounded a corner and saw a set of stairs. She ran as fast as she could with Lizzie but felt something pulling her back. She turned and saw that Liam had one of Lizzie's arms.
She glared and Liam sneered. "Why do you run away? You know, bad people have to be punished. But lets see, would it hurt you more for me to hurt you or Lizzie?" Emma's eyes widened in shock and fear but she could see that it was a real choice. She glanced at Lizzie and saw the tears in her eyes from her arms being pulled so tightly. Emma didn't want her to suffer. She sighed. "Just take me. Let go of Lizzie." He smiled. He pulled out a knife and her eyes widened more, if that was even possible.
He lowered it to Lizzie's arm and cut. Lizzie didn't even cry out. It was as if she was used to it. But how could that be? Lizzie sighed.
"You know, I was hoping you wouldn't try this because it's not as effective as you would have liked but... It works for me."
Now it was his turn for his face to turn to shock. He turned to Emma a new rage in his eyes. "Did you know about this?" He shouted too loud and Emma was sure that the governor could hear. She shook her head in shock. This was a new realization for her too.
"I had no idea...." Tears were prickling the edges of her eyes as she took in the broken girl before her.
Had she resorted to hurting herself because of how bad her mental health had gotten? Liam seemed to be having the same realization because she saw something change in his eyes.
"Liam she needs help. And we can, if we work together."
His face hardened. "No. All she needs is me. You are disposable."
Her heart dropped. "You are a sick, sick person. Lizzie needs help and you won't help!" He turned his head away and pulled Lizzie's arm out of Emma's hands. Lizzie was growing more and more frustrated at the fact that they were talking about her like she wasn't there.
"Liam, I don't love you. I never have. I love Emma, but right now I need you to stop talking about me like I'm a broken doll!"
He snapped his head towards her. "No, you only will love me. I will get rid of her and then you will only be mine!" He shifted the grip on the knife and threw.Sup I think 1 more chapter...? Whatever thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed!!
