Lizzie darted into an empty alleyway.
What just happened? Why did I freak out?
"God, I'm such a freak! He just snapped at me. Why did I react that way?" She inwardly cursed herself and rested her head on her knees. "Why can't I just be normal?" she whispered under her breath. She sighed.
I'm getting nowhere with this. I'll just go home. She got up and exited the alley. She looked around. Where am I? She was not in town anymore. She was in a very fancy and rich neighborhood.
She turned in a circle. She turned back to the neighborhood and took in the very large mansions.
"Whoa..." She realized that the alley she had hid in was the extra space between two mansions. She took in the size and beauty of them. One was blue with a vibrant blood red door. The other was a simple white with a sage green door. She looked between them.
Maybe I should ask for directions back to town. She walked up to the blue house and timidly knocked on the door. She heard someone call out and then heard thumping. The door opened and a familiar face popped out.
"Lizzie?" Katy's slender frame came into view and Lizzie almost laughed. She was wearing a paint smock and had a messy bun on her head.
"Hey Katy. I didn't know you lived here."
She nodded and smiled. "What can I help with?"
Lizzie remembered what she was doing. "I came to ask for directions back to town. Can you help me?"
Katy smiled. "Yeah. You head down the road and take the first right. It goes straight back into town from there."
Lizzie sighed in relief. "Thank you." Katy nodded and closed the door and Lizzie took off in the direction Katy had pointed out. It was longer than Lizzie had imagined when she finally got back into town. She slouched in exhaustion. She sat down on a bench and took a moment to catch her breath.
As she did this she took the opportunity to look around. She saw many people. Gay couples, straight couples, children, and elderly. She smiled at the sight.
It was moments like this that restored her faith in humanity. Her eyes drifted to a man behind a sunglasses stand. He was staring intently at her but his gaze shifted the moment she locked eyes with him.
Odd.
She tried to ignore it but she had the creeping sense that he was following her. She stood up and brushed off her shorts. She started in the direction she knew her house was and made sure to keep tabs on the guy.
She saw he slowly drifted in and out of the stores in her direction but she tried to convince herself she was being paranoid.
She eventually reached her house and decided it would be best to take a shower.
Knowing her dad wasn't home she took no care in being quiet. She made her way upstairs and into her bathroom.
She took her shower and got into her pajamas. She wasn't going anywhere else, so she went into her room and saw Ruffles sleeping on her chair. He was always sleeping these days. She went over to him and picked him up. He tiredly meowed in protest but she just laughed and casually pet him. Tracing his spine she lost herself in her thoughts.
Who was that guy? When did I lose him? Was he following me? Am I being paranoid? Should I be worried? She inwardly slapped herself and tried to stay calm. She continued stroking Ruffles until he randomly jumped up.
His pupils turned wide and his ears went back. His hair stood up and he bared his teeth. She turned around and the man from earlier was standing there.
"What are you doing in my house?" She tried not to let her voice waver, but she failed.
He smiled. "Oh, nothing." He reached into his pocket and pulled out a taser.
"What--" She was cut off by jolts of electricity rolling through her body. The pain stopped and the last thing she saw was the man's sadistic smile looking down on her.Thank you for reading; I hope you enjoyed and always know y'all are valid!!!!
