Thereuss Clan : Henry Finch

Again, today. I got myself ready to do my job at the university. As the head of development, I manage the university in many ways, such as the buildings, the curriculum, the lectures and lecturers in this school. That's not an easy task, but not so hard either.

Alex said I could do multiple things at once. That's why I was his manager, assistant, and also his second in command.

I fix my dark blue suits that matched with the color of my eyes. After I combed my short black hair, I grabbed my bag and went down stairs. I met Edward in the living room. He dressed in grey Sportswear in the shade of his eyes. His brunette hair was framed with a rubber bandana but some of them that too short to be tied hang loosely around his face. He had his car key in his hand. Looked like he had morning class.

"Morning classes, guys?" From the kitchen, Theo came with a handful of blood bags and threw some of them to us.

Edward nodded while sipping a bag.

"Have your car fixed?" He asked me. I shook my head.

"Sadly, no"

"Next time don't let Lucifer use your car. He never know how to take care of a car. I gave him once, never let him touch it again".

Theo throw his car key to me. "You can use it today. I have no classes."

I thanked him and after finished 2 blood bags, I drove off. I had a long day today. I needed to manage the curriculum for the next semester that would be started in 2 months.

I planned to spend the holiday after exam to visit my friend in Venice. She would be married with her soulmate after 727 years of her life. I was happy for her. But I couldn't lie to my self that I was jealous. In my 1838 years of life, I still couldn't find my soulmate. Alex was the oldest among us, he was 1940 this year and still couldn't find his soulmate. Edward was 1732, William was 1834, Theo was 1125, Daniel was 1638 and Lucifer was 1520.

If the prophecy was true, we'll had one woman to be shared as our soulmate. I've read about this. Some times, centuries ago when the numbers of female vampires were low, it's common when a clan shared a woman. But now, the vampires had opened their mind to accept not only vampires soulmate but also other species like humans and werewolves.

That's why now it's rare for a clan to share their soulmate. But I didn't hesitate to accept it. I've waited for my soulmate to come like forever. I didn't mind to share with my clan. They were like brothers to me.

After some times, I parked Theo's car in the school parking lot. I took my bag and went out of the car. Along the way to my office, the students and the teachers had their courteous toward me. I just nodded or gave them a simple smile. Sometimes some packs of girls getting closer and tried to make conversations, which was I declined of course. They were a little bit annoying because they didn't know how to stop, not care that I was sick of their flirting and sexual approach. They were pretty, I knew that but not 'the pretty' I liked. They showed too many skin and faking everything, from the head to the toe, there were always fake things on them. I didn't like that.

I entered my office and sat down on my chair. I would do many things today, but I'll make sure everything would be finished as soon as possible. I wanted to spend more time at home.

A few hours passed and I finished everything. I packed my bag and went to the parking lot. Just like in the morning, this time many girls also came toward me. I didn't want to hear what they say or think. I could guess.

"How handsome"

"I want to be his girlfriend"

"He must be so good in bed"

"I bet he has big dick"

"I will be ready every time he needs a good fuck"

All the dirty thoughts made me sick. I went to the car practically running just to get rid of them. When I reached Theo's car, I felt like I could breathe again and drove off to the road.

Women nowadays, they didn't search for a true love. They just love money and fake beauty. Even it's fake, they prefer it better than something true and natural. I prefer someone who had natural beauty. Even her skin was full of freckles, I would choose that over fake tan the girls used nowadays.

I hope our soulmate would be like what I prefer. Someone who still pure and innocent. She would be the one who unite us as one powerful clan, the one who gave us balance between bad and good, dark and bright, love and hate.

She would be our source of light among our dark past, the source of love for our hateful hearts. We, my friends and I really dreamed about it. We had lived for thousands years but our lives just plain and dark.

I parked Theo's car and went into the mansion. I didn't see anybody but I knew they're home. Maybe they were doing their business, I didn't mind. I just put Theo's key in the bowl on the kitchen island and went upstairs. I was happy I could spent the time doing whatever I wanted, maybe reading in the library.

I was called by one of my assistants. He needed me to watch his recent research.

I drove to the lab and entered the building. I saw Hiro, the head of the lab and also my assistant. He was one of my relative from my mom's side.

He brought me to a room that had a wall made of glass. The glass showed every things happened in the room next door.

A group of scientists stood next to a long table full with test tube filled with various liquids in the shades of red. They doing a research about the human blood substitutes. They wanted to find a kind of blood that not from human but had similar reactions to a vampire body.

Some vampires didn't like to drink human blood. They drank blood from animals. They could still maintained their health but gained less energy than drinking human's blood. That's one of the reason I did this experiment.

After adding a few drops of liquids to an Erlenmeyer flask, the liquid inside started to change colour. From dark red to dark blue.

I observed the liquid. " Is it..?" I looked at Hiro. He nodded his head, understood what I was thinking about.

I went out of the room and entered the room next door where the experiment held.

I saw the scientists stopped what they doing and looked at me before going on. I grabbed the file on the table and read its content.

"The experiment sadly wasn't succeeded. It won't become blood substitute." Hiro showed me the flask.

"But this liquid can be used in different ways."

He dropped the liquid on the microscope's glass slide and covered it with a slip. He put it under the microscope and adjusted the components.

I could see the magnified drop of the liquid. It had some active cells.

"The experiment turned the subjective blood to have more haemocyanin like the blood of Atlantic Horse-shoe crab instead of hemoglobin. The Hemocyanin clots when it comes in contact with bacterial toxins. This makes it a valuable tool for ensuring medical products are safe and free from contaminants." Hiro explained the theory.

I nodded to his explanation. This would be very useful for the next medical experiments.

"I need you to keep searching. This liquid wouldn't be useful for us, but can be so useful for humans. This research will be go on, but the research about blood substitute still be needed."

"Okay.. I'll build new team to start on the blood substitute."

I agreed to him and walked out with him. We discussed more about the research before I said goodbye to him.

I drove my car that felt new after the fix. Lucifer was a jerk toward cars. He had no compassion and drove carelessly. My car had some bumps and scratches. Not mention the steer felt hard and the brakes was useless.

Thanked God I knew a good mechanic. I would never gave my car to Lucifer again. He could stuck with his Land Rover forever.

I stopped in the supermarket parking lot. I needed to buy some groceries. I liked cooking. Cooking was my mechanism to keep my brain in check. It had systematic system that determined how to get a delicious products. From the choosing of the ingredients, how to process, and how to serve would made my brain worked well and ready to do the next things.

Plus, I could made my clan happy with my food. They loved my cooking, especially Theo. He's a sweet tooth and always ready to devour everything I made.

I hoped that my future soulmate would love to enjoy it too. If she let me, I would cook for her forever. Three times meal times, snacks or anything for special occasions like her birthday, new years, Christmas, or any day. I would take care of her health by serving her healthy food. I would gave her to Edward to do exercise after that.

I couldn't wait for her to come to my life, our lives.
