Jesse pov
I left Amy’s house hours ago. The moon in the sky already took it’s place. I sipped my second glass of martini. The night was windy, but the wind was stale, like something brewing somewhere and ready to explode.
The moment I finished the last drop of my drink, I smelled it.
Blood.
I looked for the smell and got it from the south. I silently stepped down from the roof and ran to the direction.
Several minutes running then I found the source. A pile of bloody dead body laid on the ground. Two men were intensely looked at it.
“Theo”
One of them turned his head to me.
“Jessie! What are you doing here?”
He ran to me and covered my eyesight.
I moved his body and stepped more to see the pile.
“What happened?”
The last man turned his body and I knew him before that. His red hair showed me everything.
“The rogue.” He said.
“Of vampire?”
I didn’t smell any werewolf smell so far. This place was full of the smell of blood.
I saw Theo nodded.
“A few years behind we got this more than ten times. A few humans turned into vampires without any traces of source who change them. Then they took rampage and killed many people. Like this time. A man had changed and decided to kill people who built the camp here tonight. I didn't know what triggered him to do that. Usually, the person would attack someone who he hate the most or someone who came in his mind first.”
When a human changed into a vampire, usually he had a trace of who change him, from the bite marks or smell of blood that rake of his changer. That’s how we know how or who change a person into a vampire.
“So, how they changed?”
“Henry said he found a strange substance in their blood. Like a chemical substance mixed with animal blood and something else. His team still doing the research to gather the information from it.”
Theo inhaled deeply before continuing.
“We called it black poison because it change the color of blood into black. The person who is injected with it change into vampire in the matter of minutes and lost his humanity. He is only left with rage, revenge and anger and will attack anyone who triggered him.”
“Many people who close to them already lost their lives. We tried to hunt them down, but with so little traces, we can’t do much.” Lucifer continued.
The news shocked me a little. I knew eternal world can be so cruel, but this kind of cruelty wasn’t in my prediction. It’s not natural and it scared me.
The cruelest thing I’d watched was just a group of rogue werewolves attacked a peaceful pack decades ago. The battle was rough but because they’re the same eternal creatures, it was worth the attention.
Furthermore, my brother and his clan helped the pack and they gained victory easier without causing too much destruction.
But in this case, when vampires who lost their mind attacked normal innocent humans, I guessed a blood bath couldn’t be avoided.
I was worry of Amy. She’s a normal innocent human who lived with vampires. Soon, she would encounter with a brutal tragedy or two.

Amy pov
The night was young, but it’s so dark with thick heavy cloud covered the source of light in the sky. I couldn’t see the moon and stars anywhere. The wind which was blowing sometimes also brought some chills on my skin.
My mind was wondering around at the moment. I was thinking about many things. My past, my present, and also my future.
I couldn’t remember many things about my past with my family. But everything I remembered was considered as normal to me. I grew up in human’s environment, with human activities, and human life. I never thought that I would lived like this now, but I regret nothing. Everything happened for a reason. I loved my house, my school, my friends and also my housemates. Whoever they are, or what, I still loved them.
It’s been a while, but I knew nothing about them. They might be so sweet to me, but I didn’t know a slight about them behind it. All I knew, I couldn’t believe anything laid in front of me instantly. There’s always be something within especially if I had to face the creatures like them. I’d learnt it in the worst way possible.
If I wanted to be closer to them, I had to know them more. Even if it would worked two way. I just felt a little afraid about that. I didn’t know if I’m ready to do it. I’d lived peacefully for years and definitely, it would be hard to change that.
I inhaled deeply.
Jesse looked a little different today. For days, I saw her as a bubbly loud person who liked to say anything in her mind without thinking and extremely clingy to me.
But today it was different. She kept many words just in her mouth even I could feel she almost spilled them out.
She had different eyes to my housemates and I couldn’t deciphered it. And some ways, it was irritating me.
Like I said, there’s always something else behind someone’s face.
Well.. Maybe it’s just me who judged too soon. I knew nothing about her and decided she was a loud person too quickly. I had to know her more. This time I decided to give her more time. I hoped it’s worth it.
The wind suddenly passed by me in the balcony. I could smell something in it. It’s from the south. Whatever happened, it’s not good. It's relatively close to this place and I was afraid it brought bad sign. I should prepared for the worst, but still, I hope for the best.
The wind made me decided to take cover in the safety of my room. I entered and closed the door. Laid on my bed and turned off the light.
