Amy pov
I put down the pen. I had checked the answer three times. I hope I didn't make any mistake. I was very confident with my answer.
"Alright, students! The time is up. Submit your paper to my desk, start from the back."
The professor decided that today was a very good time for a quiz. I didn't made a fuzz like everyone else since I already read the material last night. I just wanted to make sure I didn't make any stupid mistakes like wrong punctuation, or spelling errors.
After the last student submitted the paper and sat on his seat, Mr. Cooper stood up. He's 46 this year. But he had Alopecia that made his hair fall. It started with one or more circular bald patches that may overlap and after years of sickness, he decided to bald his head completely. Poor man he looked older than he should.
I read online that Alopecia Areata occurs when the immune system attacks hair follicles and may be brought on by severe stress. Alopecia Areata couldn't be cured; however, it can be treated and the hair can grow back.
In many cases, Alopecia is treated with drugs that are used for other conditions. Treatment options for alopecia areata include: Corticosteroids, it's an anti-inflammatory drugs that are prescribed for autoimmune diseases.
In most people, new hair eventually grows back in the affected areas, although this process can take months. Approximately 50 percent of people with mild Alopecia recover within a year; however, most people will experience more than one episode during their lifetime.
Why I knew this? I read many things about sickness and cancers since Mrs. Sullivan sick. She's a lovely lady but suffered from cancer. She treated me well and I was glad I was able to make her last few days happy.
And about this Alopecia. That's unfortunate, but everything happened for a reason. Beside that, baldness was just an appearance. It didn't change what's inside. Bald may not be attractive for some people, but as long the personality of the person was more appealing than appearance, the baldness shouldn't be in the way.
Like Mr. Cooper. He's smart and had an interesting way of teaching. Even he liked to give unexpected quizzes, he could made a lesson became bearable and rather easy to be understood. I liked him as my teacher.
"The quiz will be added to your last score, along with other quizzes that will come for the rest of the semester."
After he finished saying that, the bell rang, marked the time to wrap the lesson. The students started to poured out and one of them was me.
"You go home, Amy?" Hailey, one of my classmates asked me. I nodded.
She's fun but I thought she was too fun. She had fun appearance, fun personality and very fun lifestyle.
"Too bad. How about going to mall with me and my friends." She's very nice to asked me along, but I didn't really like to hang out.
"Thanks for asking, but I don't think I can go today, Hailey. You know I stay in the principal's house. I don't want to know what I would get if I spent my time too long outside in weekday. He can be intimidating sometimes."
Sorry Alex. I used your name as my referee.
She nodded. "I see. See you tomorrow, Amy" I smiled to her and she walked away.
What's fun about her? Well.. For start, she had pink hair. Yes, shocking pink hair that glowed under sunlight. Then, she liked to wear colourful tops, colourful bags, everything colourful and sometimes my eyes just couldn't afford it.
She's nice to talk with. She's also smart and our conversation rarely one way. I could understand her point of view and she also could understand mine. The only thing I didn't understand was how her eyes could be fine with colourful attires everyday.
