"You doing okay there?" I looked back at James who looked down into my cup, keeping his hand firmly planted on my hip. I nodded and he smiled, bringing his head down to my ear. "Do you know how many guys have asked me who you are already? We've been here 20 minutes." I chuckled and he spun me around.  "What are you doing this weekend?"

"Probably sleeping why?"

"Let me take you out." I raised an eyebrow. "Well I took your first kiss, I'd like to have the first date too." I pressed my lips together, raising my eyebrows and he scowled. "He took you on a date? I thought you weren't dating right now?"

"A spontaneous one. It wasn't planned or anything."

"He really is hot on my heels isn't he?" I nodded, sipping from my cup. "Is he here?"

"I doubt it."

"Not a sport guy?"

"Not a party guy as far as I'm aware."

"You don't look too interested in him."

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"Well if you were, you wouldn't have let me kiss you earlier."

"Maybe I was just caught in the moment." He raised his eyebrow.

"Is that what you are now?" His face was moving in close again and I chuckled, putting my hand on his chest which caused his mouth to open in shock.

"Can't use up all your kiss time in one chunk."

"Time? Am I on a timer?"

"Well I've got to keep things fair between you two." He groaned again and I turned back around, letting him pull me so I was flush against him.

"You play dirty you know." He whispered in my ear. "Tease and tease and tease and then remind me that I'm not the only one trying to win you over which just makes me want you more."

"If it's bugging you I'm sure there's some other guy in here I can get to take me home tonight."

"Not a chance." His grip tightened. "No one is taking you home tonight apart from me. I'll fight them myself."

"You will do no such thing." I smiled back at him. "So where are these volleyball girls you told me about?"

"Oh. Shit yeah." He chuckled. "I did tell you I'd introduced you guys."

"Are you close with them?"

"I mean the captain is dating my best friend so kind of. I see them all a lot." I nodded as he grabbed my hand. "Lets go." He pulled me through the house, out to the back garden. Sure enough a group of 6 girls were sat on the patio laughing. They all seemed really close. Sitting with their legs over each other. I drunk from my cup, trying to ease my nerves. It's fine. You got this. "Caz?" A red head lifted her head, smiling softly.

"Hi James. You okay?" The group fell silent. Mutters amongst them. "Oh is this her?"

"Avery, this is the team."

"Hi." I waved slightly with the hand my cup was in. He wasn't letting go of my hand so that was the only option.

"Hi Avery, come sit." The girls moved up, making space for me beside Caz. I pulled myself out of him now, moving to sit beside her without any hesitation. I wanted to look confident right now. And clinging to some guy I barely even knew wasn't going to do that. I looked up at him as I sat down.

"I'll be about if you need me Avery. Just text." I nodded and he left me with them. As soon as he was out of sight the girls started breathing again.

"Okay what the hell did you do to scoop up James?" I raised an eyebrow.
