"Jay!" I grinned as he got crossed the parking lot. My sides were hurting from laughing so much but I really wanted a hug. I ran across to him, wrapping my arms around his neck as I jumped at him.
"Are you okay? Did anything happen?"
"No, we're all fine."
"I didn't ask if they were fine Vee. I asked if you were."
"I'm fine." He suddenly started breathing again, holding me tighter. He smelt so good tonight. I don't know if I just hadn't noticed it before or if he had put it on before he came out. Either way it was good. "You smell good." He chuckled into me.
"Have you said goodbye? Are you ready to go?"
"Um-"
"Vee! You're phone." He put me down and I turned my head.
"My phone." He smiled, walking past me as I giggled. "WAIT. CAZ! CLOSE IT!" I ran over, grabbing my phone from her and locking it immediately.
"What are you hiding?"
"Nothing." He looked at me, raising an eyebrow. "Not a thing." I smirked as the girls all laughed.
"Ready to go now?" I nodded and he smiled, grabbing my hand and pulling me across the parking lot, I looked back and the girls were all laughing as I waved. He pulled my side of his car open. "What's on your phone Vee?"
"Nothing." I gripped it tighter in my hand and he smirked.
"Nothing?" I shook my head. "So definitely not that topless photo you sent yourself from my phone." I coughed.
"No I deleted that."
"Prove it."
"I will when we get back to mine." I sat back in the car, letting him close my door. I quickly unlocked my phone and the door opened again. He smirked down at the phone, giggling at me as he closed the door again. So what if I was showing him off a little.
He got back in the car, turning to me as I locked my phone again.
"Why were they looking at a photo of me shirtless Vee?" There was that mischievous glimmer again.
"They weren't." I smirked. "I was and then Caz stole my phone. It was a theft really."
"Okay. So why were you looking at it?" I could feel my face turning red.
"I missed you this week." I laid my head back looking at him.
"It's been like 3 days." He laughed at me slightly before starting the car and pulling out. I pouted, leaning forward and grabbing his hand, pushing my finger into his. He moved his hand into the centre console, relaxing it down. I felt better now. "You're a lot more drunk now that you were on Friday."
"A few too many cocktails." I chuckled. "I think I had like 7 or 8. I have a dance class in the morning too."
"Hahaha. Good luck with that."
"Will you make sure I'm up. I promised Eve I'd be there and some of the girls from the team are hosting it. I can't miss it."
"What time do you need to be up?"
"Like 7." He nodded.
"I'll make sure you're up."
"Thanks."
"So 7 cocktails. That's quite a bit to say you haven't really drunk before. Caz is quite a heavy drinker and you kept up with her pretty well."
"Yeah. My family are all decent drinkers so I think it's in my blood. I'm sobering up now though." He nodded. "It doesn't take them long to sober up either. I guess that's a good thing in one sense but in another, it just takes us out of the fun quicker."
"I guess. But less hangovers." I shrugged. The rest of the ride home was pretty quiet. Just me watching our hands together.
"I think I'm pissing myself off with all these games." He pulled into the complex, turning to face me as he took his seatbelt off.
"What do you mean?"
"With you. I think I'm starting to annoy myself. I don't know how you aren't." He smiled, slowly pulling his hand from mine and getting out. I sighed, unbuckling my belt as he opened the door and helped me out. I stumbled slightly, clinging onto him so I didn't fall.
"You're not annoying me Avery." I looked up into his eyes, pushing my phone into my pocket. "I enjoy teasing you as much as you like doing it to me. But if you've had enough of it we don't have to anymore."
"I enjoy it. I just don't want to annoy you and scare you off." His smile turned soft, gently placing one hand on my cheek. "I really like having you around James. I'm new to all this. I don't know what I'm doing or if I'm taking it too far. Promise me you'll tell me if I am."
"I promise Avery. I will. But you're not." He kissed me quickly. "Come on, let's get you up to bed." He put my hand in his, pulling me up and through the building.
We stood there, my back to my door like we had done before. Bickering over me not wanting to go to bed yet.
"Avery. You're making me get up early to wake you up and I'm going to have to come pick you up too because you don't have your car. Just go to bed." I looked at him, tilting my head slightly.
"You don't have to get me to class or wake me up. If I miss it that's my own fault. I'm sorry to be such a fucking pain." I put my hand on the already unlocked door, trying to open it behind me. He put his hand on mine. "Sorry, I thought you wanted me to go to bed so you could go back to whatever it is you were doing before you came to my rescue, which you told me to call you for by the way. If you didn't want me to call you, you shouldn't have offered."
"Are you done?" I sighed, crossing my arms. "Why are you causing an argument? What's wrong?"
"You want to leave."
"You don't want me to go?" I shook my head. "I have to leave at some point Vee."
"Stay the night."
"Vee-"
"I'm serious. It saves you driving home and then coming back in the morning anyway. And I don't want you to leave." He sighed and I moved my hand behind me, pushing my door open. "The offers there if you want it." I shrugged and moved back into my room, leaving the door open so he could choose what he wanted to do. I turned and faced him, taking my top off so I was stood with just my bra covering my top half. He stared, shaking his head slowly as I smirked and he walked in, closing the door behind him. "I really do have you wrapped around my finger don't I?"
"Mhm." He raised his eyebrow as he put an arm around my waist. "So what was that about you missing me this week?"
