I let out a deep breathe, walking into the stadium where the girls told me to meet them. I could already hear them laughing already. See them all stood in a group, huddled together like they were all best friends. It was kind of intimidating. There was more of them now. Than the 6 that were at the party. Now there was 11 of them. That were here. There could be more.

"Avery!" I smiled at Caz, walking up to her and letting her wrap me in a hug. "How was your weekend?"

"It was nice thanks! How was yours?"

"Boring." I chuckled at her eye roll. "Everyone. This is Avery. The girl from Chicago at the high school championships, I told you all about her." They all nodded, smiling and saying hi, waving. "You ready to go? We only have an hour before the cheerleaders need the room." Her eye roll hinted that she didn't like them.

"You don't get on with them?"

"They're just super whiney." She chuckled.

"I'm friends with one of them, we met this weekend. She helped me prep for a date."

"A date?" She stood up, putting her hands on her hips and the girls from the party stepped forward. I chuckled, pulling my hair up into a ponytail as I nodded. "With-"

"Yeah."

"A proper date?"

"Proper date." I chuckled at Liv who scrunched her face up but smiled.

"I feel like we're missing something here."

"Avery here, Is officially dating James. As in Football, James."

"Anderson?" Caz nodded and the girls just stared at me. "How the hell did you manage that?"

"I can't even tell you. He approached me on my first day here without my parents last week and we've just been talking since." They all looked amongst each other. "He told me he's not seeing anyone else too." Caz's mouth dropped and I chuckled, tightening my knee support slightly.

"You have him proper wrapped around your finger don't you?"

"At the party, after he left me with you, Eve, the cheerleader, heard him calling me his girlfriend and warning the boys not to touch me." I rolled my eyes.

"But you're not?"

"God no. I'm keeping my options open. We've had one date." Caz laughed at me, throwing the ball at Liv to separate everyone off.

"Come on then, show us what you can do new girl." She patted my shoulder as we walked onto the court.

She must have prearranged who was going where I was stood in my normal position as we started.

I put everything in me into this little match, making sure I put my best out there for them. I knew I didn't need to. This was just for the rest of the team to see me so they could make the right decision on me. Caz and who I'm guessing was her second in command were talking on the side lines, watching only me. I could see them out of the corner of my eye but I was just focusing on making sure I did well.

By the end I was completely exhausted and our side had won. I chuckled as the girls pulled me into a hug, laughing as they did so.

"Avery!" I looked up and the girls let go. "Can you give us a moment?"

"Sure thing." I nodded, walking over to my bag on the opposite side of the room, pulling my phone out and checking it.

"Hey!" I almost dropped my phone as pompoms got shaking at the side of my face.

"Jesus Eve." I chuckled. "Kill me off." I grabbed my water bottle having a drink as she sat down beside me.

"How was the date? I don't think you gave me an in depth review on Monday."

"Sorry, I took a few classes this week just to get out there and meet some people. I'm going to the dance one tomorrow, are you?" She nodded. "Okay cool. Yeah the date was great. He took me up to this lake and I let him take my clothes off like we said." She giggled, looking over her shoulder and inviting her friends over.

"This is Mia, Chrissie and Amber." I waved. "We were just talking about her date on Sunday."

"Already? How long have you been here?"

"Like 10 days? Did you tell them about Jasper?" She nodded. "Oh good."

"What are they all talking about?" Eve looked over and I gave her a small smile as I joined her.

"Me. They're deciding if I'm good enough."

"I hate this bit." One of the girls said from the seats behind me. "Trying to see if you can work it out by their faces."

"Ugh tell me about it. I have everything riding on this too. I don't know what I'll do if they say no. Probably cry." I chuckled glancing at my phone.

"Is that him?" Eve nodded at the text notifications and I nodded as I opened them.

Good luck baby.
You don't need it but have some anyway
I'm sure it'll be fine.
Call me when you're done and I'll come pick you up.

You know I brought my car right? I don't need picking up.

You're done?

No just waiting.

Okay.
Fine. If I can't pick you up I'll just bring you food and meet you at yours?

"He's very determined." I looked at Eve and giggled.

"When does your practice finish?"

"Late."

"Damn. I was going to ask you to go get food." She laughed at me, clapping the pompoms together as she did.

"You're still toying with him?"

"Too damn right." I smiled. The group in front of us separated and I sighed. "Oop. Here we go." I locked my phone as  Caz waved me over. "Wish me luck." She winked at me as I walked over.

"What are you doing now?" Caz asked and I furrowed my brow at her.

"James is supposed to be meeting me at mine for food but I was actually looking for a way out of it." She laughed, grabbing my arm and pulling  me closer.

"They all love you. We were going to ask you to come out for a few celebratory drinks with us."

"Oh wow. I um didn't bring any clothes, drink suitable."

"Eh. I'm sure what you've got is fine. It's nothing special. Some food and a few minor drinks, some of the girls are hosting the dance class tomorrow."

"Oh I'm going to that!"

"You are?"

"Yes!" She grinned, pulling me over to the girls and introducing me to my team mates properly. I did it! All by myself. No sister, no parents. Just me. Fuck yes!
