Even though Mark was only away for three days, it felt like an eternity to him

Even though Mark was only away for three days, it felt like an eternity to him. Every second he didn't spend practicing or performing, he thought about Gyuri and their last conversation. He kept beating himself over making it so awkward. The thing he loved about their friendship was that they were so comfortable around each other. He never was one to get comfortable around girls easily, so having Gyuri as his best friend was a pleasant exception.

His members certainly noticed how he was caught up in his thoughts constantly, but they had no idea how to help. They'd asked him, of course, what was wrong but the Canadian had brushed it off and told them he was okay. They knew him better than that, but they couldn't do anything if he wasn't honest. And so they just kept a close eye on him to make sure he was okay.

Gyuri was no better. An eerie silence hung around her and Mina's apartment more than usual, except for the moments when Mina would succeed in distracting the girl enough to get a conversation out of her. Gyuri found some relief in her work, for uni as well as her actual jobs, because they took her mind off Mark. Their unusual lack of contact only made her more confused, because she couldn't tie any feelings to a situation that was so opposite to their normal behavior.

And so, even though she was fearing the confrontation of seeing him again, Gyuri was glad he was coming home today. They had only texted shortly the day before when Mark had asked if he could come over after he'd arrived back home. Gyuri had told him it was okay if he wanted to rest first, but he was set on seeing her and talking things out.

That's how Gyuri found herself sitting at her desk in the late afternoon, typing away on her laptop as she worked on some uni projects. A short knock came from her door and she turned her head to the side. She knew it couldn't be anyone but him, since only he would ask permission to come in.

"Come in."

When the door opened, Gyuri was met with a blue-haired Mark who peeked his head inside. His hair was still messy from the flight but it looked good on him.

"Hi," he softly said.

"Hey," Gyuri replied. Noticing his hesitance, she motioned for him to step inside. "Come in, I don't bite."

Mark smiled slightly and closed the door behind him. He made his way over to the bed, where he sat down and waited patiently for Gyuri to finish whatever she was working on. He nervously picked his fingers as he looked around the room. The awkward tension hanging in the air made him uneasy and he bounced his leg up and down repeatedly without realizing it.

At the sound of a laptop closing, he returned his attention to the girl as she spun around in her chair to meet his eyes. She swallowed, noticing how his eyes flickered anxiously. Not wanting him to feel so tense, she sent him a small smile and decided to break the ice.

"Sorry about that. Hi."

"Don't apologize, it's okay. Hi," he said, reciprocating her small smile with one of his own.
