Chapter 36

Eight months later...

Daryl POV

It's been months since Emma, Andy, Jacob and the kids went missing. I go out a little further each day sometimes not coming back at night the group is used to it, and I always hope that I come back and they are still in the town of Gracepoint if not then they leave me directions or some way to tell me where they are going. We have lost so many people since Alexandria was lost we lost Carol, Sam, Ron, and Deanna (added to the loss of Jacob, Spencer is a mess). Rick is constantly on me to stop looking but I feel Emma and the kids, I know that they are out there somewhere they are safe or I think they are, Darla would be just over a year now so nearly walking, please God I don't ever ask for much but please let my family be safe, be alive.

I get on my bike and ride sixty miles out from our location I park the bike in a secluded location, grab my map, and mark where I am this map is getting full I'm getting fewer and fewer of the spots if they were somewhere they'd be. I start walking I used to love the forest it would feel like home but now I hate it, it's too quiet, too peaceful, too deceiving it's hiding my family, then I see it on the ground some small footprints I mean it could be anyone's but I have to follow it. The trail is leading me deeper into the forest then I come to a clearing there's a cabin surrounded by a stone wall. It looks like someone is living here as I see smoke coming from the chimney I pull my binoculars out and I look at what is happening as I watch the cabin I can't believe my eyes I pick up my crossbow and I climb over the wall then I run as fast as I can to the people I've missed these past eight months.

Emma POV

We've been so lucky we found this cabin and it was practically untouched there were tools, furniture, and a lot of room, Jacob and Andy foraged for the food we set up a garden and meat is in good supply, the walkers we don't see them it's been months since one came to the wall. I look around and see Merlynn and Dylan playing, running around throwing snowballs which we taught them how to throw when it snowed for the first time, they are throwing them at each other as Jacob is holding Darla and Andy is cutting more wood, I'm watching this scene as I rub my ever-growing stomach I'm huge again so it must be another son, I'm going to name him Daryl Junior, yeah I know stupid but I want him to know his dad and how much I loved him, I think he's alive I don't know it, but I feel him sometimes like he's watching me.

"Hey, sis wakey wakey. What are you thinking about?"

"Probably the usual Andy, what she's always thinking about other than the kids, her fine redneck."

"I bet he made it, I bet they all made it." Then all of a sudden we hear the rustling of someone coming in fast.

"Something's coming at us let me get my gun." I see Andy grab his rifle and look through the scope and then he laughs. "Nah I'm not gonna shoot him, he can come here."

"What are you talking about?"

"You'll see." I look and watch the man get closer then I start to move toward him I think I'm in shock.

"EMMA!" Oh god, it is Daryl.

"DARYL!" We reach and I forgot about the baby and slammed into him I was in pain but it was worth it we stood there hugging and kissing. "It's you? You're here? You found us. I thought you were dead." I could hear Daryl, he was crying but then again so was I, we finally stopped kissing and I wiped the tears from my eyes.

"Yes, it's me. You're, aren't you? I knew I would find you I'm sorry it took so long. Oh god, your pregnant again."

"Yep junior is a big one again."
