SUMMARY: You've dolled yourself up to go to a work event. Seeing that, Derek can no longer hide how you make him feel.

You counted on Derek for a lot of things. He had saved your life countless times and you've done the same for him to the your best ability. You've sat in front of a laptop and scattered books in his loft for hours during the darkest hours to figure out a mystery. So you knew that a simple act such as picking you up for a work party was nothing special.
Not that your job was exciting, as you had only worked there for six months, but the dinner parties were sort of interesting. You had made several work friends and most of them happened to also be your age, so sharing a few drinks with them at a semi-formal place sounded appealing.
Derek ➣ I'll be there in 2.
You smiled at the serious tone of his message. That was something you were used to. Derek was rarely in a joking mood, but you liked him for that. The two of you bounced off of each other really well, at least according to the rest of your friends. However, you were not sure that in those attempts to joke around Derek ever expressed any sort of feelings for you.
So you just relied on your friendship.
And the sound of his car stopping by your house.
''Bye mom!'' you said, as your mother kissed you goodbye. She looked out of the window to see Derek idolizing in the driver's seat.
''Is he coming with you?'' she asked and you shook your head with a smile.
''Just my ride there,'' you explained but your mom glared at you with a small smirk.
''Well, I feel safe knowing that he's there,'' your mom said and you nodded.
''I wouldn't be getting in his car if he wasn't a good driver,'' you replied teasingly.
Did your mom know about your crush on Derek? You hoped the next sentence she spoke would not involve any sort of hint to that or you'd bolt through the door faster than any werewolf ever could.
''I'm not just talking about the driving,'' she said quietly and looked at you. ''But you go now. He's waiting for you.''
You didn't say anything back to your mom. Not that you wanted her to find out about your crush, but Derek was too close to hear every single word you'd whisper and any lie you'd try to pass would alter Derek's senses. So you just closed the door behind yourself and walked to his car.
Your mom and the friends you had sent pictures to all said you looked magnificent. Spotting a gorgeous strapless blood-red dress with a black leather jacket on top, you felt sure that you'd catch the attention of at least a few people at the event. And as you were merely a few steps away from the door, you noticed that Derek's bright eyes were on you.
But for some reason, you didn't feel nervous.
''Hey,'' you greeted him after taking a seat.
You closed the door from the inside and turned your head toward him.
''Hi,'' he said in a low voice.
You didn't know that, of course, but when your eyes hadn't been on him while you closed the door, Derek had spent the entirety of that time gazing over you and your body, how your legs rester against each other, as he had seen you walk to his car so elegantly. He admired how well-fitted the dress looked and how inviting your hair looked as it fell against your shoulders. He fought himself back not leaning in and placed his hand on your neck, clearing your skin from your soft hair, and placing a deep kiss there.
