THE PAST

Hyun's POV

Flashback..

The boy approached me with a huge smile on his lips and with a paper envelope in his hands. His lips were tucked, his head lowered down and his ears flushing red. I stared at him intently, trying to recognize him. He is my classmate but I don't know his name and I only got to see him up close today.

I examined him from his head to his toes. He wasn't that tall, I'm even taller than him even though I'm the girl between the two of us. But, he is indeed a cute Japanese boy. I faked a cough to catch his attention and it worked. He lifted his head to see and look at my face.

"Hi, Sun Hyun. Please, read this letter I wrote for you." he uttered.

I tilted my head while keeping an eye contact with him. He looked away shyly before scratching the back of his head and I hummed as I nodded to him for my response. "Okay, is that all you had to tell me?"

The boy slowly shifted his eyes back at me. "I– I like you–"

"Yah, come on here."

The boy was cut off when we heard a shout. I turned my head to where I heard the voice and saw my crush, Hyun Wook. I felt my face heating up as he approached me that made me stood up. Hyun Wook clung his arm on top of my shoulders and pulled me closer to him. I thought he was gonna talk to me but instead, he glared at the boy.

"You got some moves." he smirked. "But, I'm afraid it won't work. Nice moves, nice try."

He patted my head and ruffled my hair, still glaring at the boy. I kind of felt bad because of what he did to the boy but I'm also giggling inside after hearing those words that had come out of his mouth like he was actually naming me as his. We're still kids but for a puppy love, there's nothing called 'young'.

I considered it as puppy love since I know that my feelings are just temporary that they can change in time. Aside from that, my family will leave Japan once it's the right time for us to. I had no expectations from this puppy love, all I know is that I'm admiring Hyun Wook.

The boy in front of us scoffed before walking away. I watched him as he gone out of sight with his stomping feet. Hyun Wook chuckled making me look up at him. He was tall, handsome, and cute that feelings grew inside my heart. He knows that I had a crush on him and he teases me because of it. I already accepted the possibility that he might never have a crush on me but it didn't take him long to reciprocate my feelings.

Valentine's day came and in Japan, girls or teens gives chocolates to boys they love. I asked my mom to buy me chocolates and she did. I wrote a letter for Hyun Wook saying,

"To you, Hyun Wook.. I know we are both just kids. And I know that you're a Korean! I'm half, so, I know you would understand what this letter says and I wrote this in Korean so no one would be able to read it, only you. I just wanted to greet you, happy valentine's day! :)"
